INNOWIZ 2021

August 15-24, 2021

The Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell of H.R. College (E-Cell) hosted a revival-based intercollegiate national event called "Innowiz - where innovation meets wisdom", inaugurated on Independence Day on August 15, 2021.

The Organising Committee invited contingents from all over India, where they received over 120 team registrations. All these contingents competed with each other in the Auction round where they bid for the company they wished to revive.

In the second round i.e. presentation round, 30 teams submitted their ideas via PPTs. These presentations were judged by our qualified and esteemed panel of judges of which the top 12 teams were allowed to present their revival plans.

In the pitch round of Innowiz, the shortlisted contingents presented their revival strategies for the failed ventures. This was judged by our panel of expert judges, which consisted of Mr. Devang Raja - Founder of Vulture Wolf, Mr. Karan Mehra - Founder of Tyke, and Mr. Rohit Bohra - Senior Manager at NSE. The participants devised innovative plans, which were then questioned by the judges and other participants.

1st place Lavanya Bhatia from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies and Mahima Arora from Hansraj College by reviving the company - Orkut.
2nd place Jazlynn Lobo and Ashish Jain of St. Andrews College by reviving - Jet Airways.
3rd place Prem Suthar and Karan Tiwari of H.R. College offered reinvention strategies for -- Theranos.

All the winners were rewarded with cash prizes.

ALDEBARAN 2.0

August 18 to 20, 2021

The 2nd edition of Aldebaran - Online National Inter-collegiate festival, had over 24 colleges across 10 cities participating. The festival consisted of 8 events which were broadly divided into various categories of Finance, Management, Economics, Investment, Marketing, Advertising, and Cultural followed by an informative Webinar.

During this period, haphazard technology had become a super-power in each common person’s life and taking this to an advantage.

INNOV8 2021

August 30 & 31, and September 1, 2021

Hosted by the Insight Club of HR College (Jr.), Innov8 is an enthralling inter-collegiate technological extravaganza held virtually over three days to foster a love for exploring the mesmerizing world of computers among students of all streams.

There has overwhelming participation from 18 renowned colleges for the third consecutive year. Innov8, with its many riveting events, aroused the competitive spirits of the participants and ushered them to opt for creativity and logic over the available standard courses of action. Innov8, 2021 commenced on 30th August with the solemn Opening Ceremony. The series of action-packed events that followed thrilled the 25 contingents.

Innov8 concluded on September 1 with the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Winners were:

IMPROWISE

A PSDS National Improv - Storytelling Competition
September 3-4, 2021

The Public Speaking and Debating Society organized ImproWise, a national-level improv storytelling extravaganza. This event had two rounds: the eliminations round and the grand finale, held over two days.

The event portrayed extravagance and flair, with a reach of more than 20+ Colleges overall in India and 85+ participants. The teams comprised 3 participants each and 6 teams competed in the national final round.

Mr. Krishna Rathi - A concept artist, chartered accountant, lawyer, and certified ethical hacker. Presently he is the founder and CEO of Cyonn and the creative director of Krishna Rathi Associates and Rad Art Media.

Mr. Aman Baldia - Aman Baldia is a public speaking enthusiast who has started Enunciate to help students of India meet their true potential with specially curated programs.

Final Round:

Mr. Ketan Kumar Giri – Ketan Giri is a Stand-up comedian and has been a part of 500+ shows entertaining lakhs of people in multiple cities.

Mr. Mohit Grover – Mohit Grover is a stand-up comedian, content creator, and business professional with over 4 years of experience working in a client management role. He is currently working as team lead at "Edutech."

BULLSEYE

March 1, 2022

Bullseye, our flagship event, is ICHR's celebrity mock stock exchange. Due to the pandemic, it was conducted on an online platform. It provided a learning opportunity for students to gain further knowledge of the stock market and gave them a wonderful platform to display their trading skills. Over 20 colleges and clubs all over Mumbai participated in Bullseye making it one of our most successful and happening events.

March 11-14, 2022

The 11th Edition of Blaze was a 4-day fest organised by ICHR, with a plethora of events in genres ranging from Finance, Marketing, Management, Cultural, and Sports. An inter as well as an intra-collegiate fest, we had an average footfall of over 1000 students from colleges and clubs all over Mumbai. Blaze provided an excellent learning opportunity through fun events.

An inter-collegiate elocution competition organised by MVM
September 5, 2021

This year is the 101st Birth Anniversary of ‘Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe’, an inter-collegiate elocution competition was organised to honour his contribution to literature, in the last week of August 2021. Topics of the competition were a combination of 'Subjects related to Annabhau Sathe and Current Affairs of that period.' 25 students participated in the same. Results were announced on Teachers' Day 2021.

TRI'MATH'LON

October 1 & 2, 2021

Math Club of HR College organized a National Level Fest - TRI'MATH'LON consisting of three rounds with themes of swimming, cycling, and marathon built around the idea of an actual triathlon. It tested the participant's stamina, speed, accuracy, and skills with simple yet challenging math problems.

Other than the main quiz, there were also two warm-up rounds conducted. Meme throws involved participants linking humour with mathematical concepts. Interesting submissions were received for 'Minute To Win It', a short video-making competition wherein participants explained various mathematical concepts via visual tools. The events were open to an individual as well as team participation.

The events witnessed huge participation from various prestigious colleges including BITS Pilani, VIT, MIT, NM, and Symbiosis. We received 55 registrations for the Tri'math'lon quiz and 32 entries for the warm-up rounds.

OFF D’ CUFF 2022

February 26-28, 2022

The 9th edition of ODC was a landmark one for the team as it was held on an International Level. About 30+ colleges from all over the world participated in this fest, making it a grand success. The colleges include prestigious institutes like IITs and Barton Peveril College, UK. With the theme, A Literary Paracosm, a total of 10 events were held at ODC’22.

For the Finale, brands were given to the teams a day before the event, and on the day of the event, the teams were given the crisis an hour before the commencement of the event where they also had to prepare a PPT as well as their matter for the pitching.

March 7, 8 & 9, 2022

The Math Club of HR College conducted its 9th edition of Flagship Event: Number Ninjas 2022. This was the first time that Math Club invited contingents to compete with each other for the trophy. We received over 150+ registrations from all over India from Dyal Singh College, Delhi, up north to NIT Trichy, down south. These included individual registrations as well.

The fest consisted of two pre-events and six main events that were the result of constant brainstorming, innovation, and team effort of the organising team. The pre-event 'Keep It Reel' sought to disperse the ancient knowledge of Vedic maths via the modern eye-catching trend of reels. 'Pun it Out' was a quick and fun pre-event to mark the occasion of International Women's Day which involved honouring women and expressing gratitude by using math-related puns.

NAANDI

An inter-collegiate competition organised by MVM
January 6 to 9, 2022

Naandi was held over four days and the entire festival was conducted virtually due to the conditions posed by the pandemic. The theme this year was ‘Jag Viral Zala', it revolved around the new normal posed by the prevailing conditions. There were altogether 18 events including the pre-event.

Throughout the four days, talks with renowned personalities in Film and Music Industry like Madhura Joshi, Sharayu Date, Mrunal Divekar, Savani Vaze, and Pranav Raorane through Instagram Live were conducted.

Mumbai’s Largest Mathematics and Statistics intercollegiate Festival organised by the Students’ Council

The Students’ Council held its 17th edition of “Numero Uno - Surpassing New Frontiers” - Mumbai’s Largest Mathematics and Statistics intercollegiate Festival. The event was held online for the second consecutive year. The 3-day festival witnessed 400+ participants from over 7 schools & colleges as well as 10 intra-college clubs.

DASTUR DEBATE COMPETITION

January 27 & 29, 2022

The Growth Development and Change Cell of H.R. College in association with the Chambers of Tax Consultants organized the 5th edition of the national level 'Dastur Debate Competition'.

Our esteemed principal and other members of Chambers of Tax Consultants graced the competition. The audience witnessed the sharp dagger of words and powerful swords of knowledge of the participants during the debate.

The event concluded with Ms. Trisha Dutta, faculty in charge of the cell, proposing a vote of thanks to the judges, participants, and volunteers.

XXIX International Economics Convention

December 16, 17 & 18, 2021
The H.R. College of Commerce and Economics hosted the XXIX International Economics Convention under the aegis of the HSNC Board with the theme “Inflation and Employment - Its Impact on the Economy”.

The inaugural ceremony took place on December 16, 2021, with the host team presenting an overview of the theme "Inflation and Employment". Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Principal of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, gave the opening statement, welcoming everyone to the convention. Mr. Kishu Mansukhani, President of the HSNC Board, unveiled the brochure of the 29th International Economics Convention and then addressed the gathering. He spoke about how the convention, over the years, has been focussing on contemporary socio-economic issues, and that the topic chosen for this year's convention was extremely relevant.

In his speech, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Pro-Vost, HSNC University, congratulated H.R. College for organising the convention and commented on how this year's convention deals with a challenging subject to be debated by the young minds and expected them to come up with solutions to the current problems of inflation and unemployment.

Mr. Anil Harish, past president of the HSNC Board, appreciated the presentation made by H.R. College and mentioned that the Economics Convention was one the oldest International conventions ever run by any educational institution. He encouraged the youth to become more research-oriented.

Dr. Devender Kawday, the Chief Guest, congratulated the students for making the presentation on the theme. Many colleges, he believed, should step forward and urge students to conduct more research. He believed that education plays an important role in solving problems and helping the economy grow.

Vice-Principal Dr. Navin Punjabi gave a vote of thanks at the end of the inaugural ceremony.

The teams presenting the topic for their assigned country and answering questions put forth by their opponents marked the second day December 17, 2021. The topic “Inflation and Employment” concerning the country allotted to the team was dealt with in a specific setting with the help of economic history, correlation charts, statistics, political environments, global trade situations, etc. Team India, Brazil, Russia, Germany, and France were the countries to take the stage on this day (Each college was addressed by the country allotted to them). Our international college from Bulgaria opened the convention by representing our country, India.

At the valedictory function, Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani congratulated all the teams for the beautiful presentations made by them. Mr. Kishu Mansukhani, President of the HSNC Board encouraged students and urged them to come forward and face challenges, bring innovative solutions, and thus, help the economy grow.

The Chief Guest of the day, Mr. Aalok Mehta, President, GST Practioners' Association of Maharashtra and an alumnus of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, spoke in the brief about the GST and the economic situation. He also spoke about how taxes influences inflation, tax rates, and employment concerning our society. The judges were invited to share their thoughts on the research papers and the presentations made by the teams. All three of them appreciated the efforts put in by all the teams on their research papers and in the presentations. They congratulated each team and mentioned that every participant is a winner.

Mrs. Anuradha Iyer, convenor, made the announcements of the results and the prize distribution which marked the end of the convention.

INQUEST- NATURAL AND PASSIONAL

March 1, 3 & 5, 2022

The Research Cell of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organized a National level Research Event “INQUEST” via zoom. INQUEST 2022 consisted of three rounds consisting of a quiz, a report, and a presentation that tested the participant's research abilities, as well as presentation skills. Participants were from different colleges in India and the event was open to individuals as well.

The first round “Researchomedia”; was a virtual rapid-fire quiz, where the teams were tested on a niche that was provided to them a day before the event.

The qualifying participants of the 1st round had to then prepare a report in the next round which was the “Researchify” round. They had to submit a well-structured research report on a situation and event given to them in the provided format.

The last round was the “Newsology” this round was to test the creativity of the participants. The qualifying participants had to take up the role of a news presenter and share a summary of their research report within a time limit of 10 minutes.

On 5th March, the ultimate winners of the three-day research event-INQUEST were announced.

ELYSIUM 2022

March 15-17, 2022

ELYSIUM organized a fitness fest this year themed around the idea of a battle. Consisting of various sessions, workshops, competitions, and much more; Elysium focused on not just fitness but also provided a platform for people to showcase their talents and skills alongside competing and enjoying various activities organized in the fest. Participants included clubs from HR College as well as various representatives of different colleges all over Mumbai.

Main Events

The Perfect Plate was a cooking competition as nutrition is crucial in fitness. Participants had to prepare a healthy dish with the ingredients they had with a time limit of 50 minutes for preparation of the dish. While the participants were cooking, a few ingredients were taken from them, and then a quiz round was conducted.

The judge Ms. Khushboo Jain Tibrewala is a Nutritionist & Diabetes Educator.

Hustle Hour gave a modern twist to a favorite childhood board game i.e., Snakes and Ladders, Team Elysium presented a platform to students to get out of their comfort zone and push their boundaries. In this event, the participants were tested on their strength, accuracy, and endurance.

Yogalicious was an event that tested the Yogic knowledge of the participants. The teams had three members each. The judge Ms. Ashlesha Mahadik is a yoga Instructor, & an avid yoga enthusiast.

Team Elysium organised Get Grooving for dancers with lots of twists and turns with props. Later participants performed a healthy impromptu duo dance battle. Mr. Asifali Bagwan the judge for the event is a well-known dancer and choreographer.

Mr. & Ms. Elysium conducted on March 16 is the main event of ELYSIUM 2022, tested participants on their creativity, talent, personality, and intellectual strength through a series of 2 rounds, a Ramp walk, and a Question-Answer Round

The best 2 participants (1 male and 1 female) were titled and felicitated as Mr. & Ms. Elysium 2022 and as a surprise element, 2 participants (1 male and 1 female) who rocked the retro theme were given the Best Dressed title.

The Judge Mr. Nishad Raut is the winner of Mr. Maharashtra Elite 2019 and is an International Powerlifter.

Act your Brand on the last day, where Elysium presented a platform for participants to showcase their talent in Acting. The Judge Ms. Amaara Sangam is a trained actor, classical Odissi dancer, entrepreneur, and who has lived and performed in London & toured around UK Theatres for almost a decade.

The game-changer was a deciding event for many of the teams as it offered a significant number of points, enough to change the course of the competition, hence the name. This event tested the limits of the participants' strength while also managing to be fun for all.

Mega Battle the spectacular main event “MEGA BATTLE” was the final stepping-stone towards winning the title of Elysium 2022. The mega battle was sub-divided into 3 elimination-based rounds. Each round testing various skills like Balancing power, physical core strength, determination, focus, concentration, agility, and intellect. Each contingent sent its best 3 participants to win the mega battle.

WORKSHOPS

Dance out with Burzin was an energy boost to kickstart the workshop series of our fest ELYSIUM. Fitness instructor Mr. Burzin Engineer conducted the workout with energetic dance moves, acrobatic exercises, and the latest upbeat songs. Mr. Burzin Engineer the founder of Dance-Out is a professional Dancer, Choreographer, and Fitness Trainer certified by International Fitness Aerobic Academy (I.F.A.A) Germany

Social Jive with Valentino Victoria was a unique Jive workshop was conducted by Mr. Valentino Victoria. He made this workshop very interactive and danced the same routine with a few of the participants on various songs. Valentino Victoria is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, he has performed on stage for various events including the Goa Carnival and was a member of one of Goa's finest dance troupes called Breathless.

Stand Up Comedy Set by Sunny V. Sharma and Kartik Shukla lit up by lively and had a set of hilarious jokes. Sunny V. Sharma is a fitness coach and funny-time standup comedian. Kartik Shukla is a seasoned comic in the Mumbai circuit. He is a well-known comedy producer and comedian.

The Discidium Committee of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics hosted their flagship event, DISCIDIUM - Business and Economics Festival, the 6th edition held online for the second consecutive year. The festival witnessed 500+ participants from over 13 colleges as well as 7 intra-college clubs.

RISE 2022

March 21 to 23, 2022

The Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell of H.R. College conducted the 2nd edition of its flagship entrepreneurship national fest - RISE - Re- Inforcing Start-up and Entrepreneurship.

The organising committee accepted start-up ideas in the form of business proposals from the top colleges across India. Among the entries received, the top eight best entries were shortlisted and given a chance to present their ideas to a panel.

This year we conducted 3 challenging events that tested the participants’ creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial abilities.

‘The Entrebate’ - involved a role-play debate wherein the participants were assigned specific characters in a business scenario. The event tested their debating skills in an entrepreneurial environment.

‘Sell me this pen’ - the event involved a creative sales pitch from the participants, using a poster to sell the assigned product.

‘Comedy Night with Corporates’ - the participants curated their own stand-up comedy set, which was presented in front of the judge and audience. The judge Ms. Kajol Srinivasan also presented a short stand-up performance. The live audience present was thoroughly amused and entertained by the same.

The main event, ‘Pitch and Rise’ on 23rd March 2022 - 8 teams presented their business plans in front of judges through a PowerPoint presentation and answered the questions.

Our judges for the same were Mr. Abhay Tulsian and Mr. Kushal Trivedi who questioned the presenting teams. Mr. Abhay Tulsian is a chartered accountant by profession in addition to being a mentor of Chaplin’s Speakers Club, a communication forum. Mr. Kushal Trivedi is the founder of a multiple award-winning Ed-tech start-up PreBOO.

Over 15 contingents from all across India participated and cash prizes of Rs.25,000 were awarded to the winners.
