EDUCATION IN THE UK: A SESSION BY THE UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College hosted the University of Warwick for a seminar on Education in the United Kingdom. The speaker Ms. Kanika Marwaha, Founder and Director of University Options with over thirty years of experience in the field of education, was welcomed and introduced by the Faculty Director of the IPC, Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee.

Ms. Marwaha commenced her talk by familiarizing the attendees with the University of Warwick, one of the top 10 universities in the UK, and the relation it shares with H.R. College. At the post-graduation level, the University offers various courses under the Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Marketing and Consulting heads. Standardized examinations such as the GMAT and GRE are to be given to qualify for admission, with a percentile requirement of around 95. Indian students benefit from access to special funding opportunities and Chancellor's scholarships.

EDUVISION 360: EXPLORING OPPORTUNITIES ABROAD

An information session for students interested in education opportunities abroad, was conducted by Dr Pratibha Jain, Education Counselor with 30 years of experience in guiding more than 30,000 students; Dr Geeta Nair, Head Department of Business Economics; and Vice Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani.

Dr. Jain gave basic yet crucial advice for doing things those students would consider their calling, analyzing their interests and connecting with people from the field. She recommended the students to practically analyze all aspects of studying abroad and not just give in to the glamour. She shed light on the various aspects related to education and career opportunities abroad. This was followed by an hour long question answer session answering all the student queries.

SEMINAR ON ACCOUNTING FOR WATER SAVINGS: HYDROLOGY MEETS POLITICS

Prof Lin Crase, Professor of Economics & Head of School: Commerce, University of South Australia; talked about looking at water management through the eyes of an economist, emphasizing on the possibility of looking at water as an avenue of business.

SEMINAR ON CAREER OPPORTUNITIES RELATED TO ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, ANALYTICS & MARKETING

Dr. Debashis Pal, Academic Director (Applied Economics Programme), University of Cincinnati; addressed the students with regards to the Applied Economics course which is a perfect fit for students looking to pursue a career in the fields of data analysis and statistics. The university boasts of a 100% placement record with adequate financial support to its students. The university is located in Ohio, which is home to over 200 companies.

INSIDES OF ECONOMICS - OPTIONS IN APPLIED ECONOMICS

EXPLORING EDUCATION DOMAINS - THE UK EXPERIENCE

Five universities from across Britain came down to H.R. to meet with the students. Faculty from the University of Northampton, University of Southampton, Staffordshire University, Aston Business School and the University of Plymouth acquainted the listeners with the course options available at their respective universities.

The students were given the opportunity to sit for a masterclass by the British faculty, thus giving them an idea of lectures at universities overseas.

INFORMATION SEMINAR FOR THOSE LOOKING TO PURSUE AN INTERNATIONAL MASTER'S PROGRAMME WITHIN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT / FINANCE AT EDHEC BUSINESS SCHOOL

Mr. Nilesh Gaikwad, Country Manager, EDHEC Business School, India Office spoke about the various courses at EDHEC Business School, which has campuses in Nice, Lille and Paris, among others. EDHEC promotes a work-study balance with a gap year between the two years of classroom teaching for the students to develop themselves by gaining work experience.

Ms. Amruta Datar from Campus France explained the reason France is gaining traction as an option for those looking to pursue higher education. The application procedures and scholarship details were communicated to the students..

EADA BUSINESS SCHOOL

EADA Business School offers a 10-month long Masters Programme. Mr. Hayes explained the advantage of a prior internship or work experience. Apart from this, Mr. Hayes threw light on the topics of demonetisation, Brexit and the recent financial crisis in Spain. He stressed the need of a softer Brexit so that European industry retains access to a large market.

SWISS SCHOOL OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

The Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality to HR College aimed to enlighten the students of the college about the various courses offered at the school through their representative Mr. Santosh Mrinalini.

Aside from informing the attendees about the educational options at the school, Mr. Santosh also touched upon the beautiful campus that is spread over acres of land close to the Swiss Alps. Most of the alumni of the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality are very well placed all around the globe with well reputed companies.

The session ended on a warm note, with the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality expressing interest in assisting the students of HR College by placing them in internships with some of the premier hotels in the city.
