Aaditya Trivedi Session

The Press Connect Club of H.R. College organized an interactive session with filmmaker and Well Done CA Sahab scriptwriter, Aaditya Trivedi. Guided by Club In-charge Ms. Jasmine Tamboli and supported by Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, the event offered students an engaging blend of filmmaking insights, personal reflections, and creative activities. Mr. Trivedi shared his journey with honesty, highlighting behind-the-scenes experiences and industry challenges. The session also featured drama-inspired interactive games, adding a lively and participatory element. His approachable nature made the discussion feel conversational and inspiring. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving students motivated to pursue their creative aspirations.

Journalism in the Age of AI: A New Phase

A guest lecture on “Journalism in the Age of AI: A New Phase” was conducted by senior journalist Mr. Mohammed Wajihuddin for an audience of 50 students. Mr. Wajihuddin, from The Times of India, shared his professional journey and offered an insightful look into newsroom realities and the evolution of journalism. He discussed the growing impact of AI on the media industry, addressing challenges such as job displacement while highlighting opportunities for journalists who prioritize critical thinking, authenticity, and strong storytelling. He also shared practical advice for aspiring journalists, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, and continuous learning. The session was engaging, informative, and motivating, giving students a clearer understanding of journalism’s enduring values and its evolving future.

The Planning Forum Club of H.R. College successfully hosted the "Journalise Your Journey in Journalism and Mass Media" webinar, aimed at exploring career opportunities and industry trends in journalism and mass media.

Ms. Ankita Dutta discussed diverse career paths, the rise of digital media, and ethical journalism, while Ms. Vinni Shah provided insights into emerging trends, the role of data, and the importance of multimedia skills. The interactive Q&A session encouraged participant engagement and addressed various career-related queries.

The webinar also offered virtual networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with the speakers post-session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and received positive feedback from participants.

Special thanks were extended to Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Ramchandani and Teacher-in-Charge Ms. Jasmine Tamboli for their support in making the event a resounding success.

Journalism Jamboree Quiz

The Press Connect Club successfully hosted the much-anticipated Journalism Jamboree Quiz on Friday, 10th January 2025. This virtual event was designed to test the knowledge and skills of aspiring journalists, students, and media enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds.

Focusing on fostering journalistic excellence, the quiz covered a wide range of topics, including current affairs, media trends, journalistic ethics, and the history of journalism. The online format enabled participation from various locations, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

Organized under the guidance of Ms. Jasmine Tamboli, Teacher-in-Charge of the club, the event's success was largely attributed to her dedication and leadership. Gratitude was also extended to Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani for her unwavering support and encouragement in promoting such enriching initiatives.

The quiz featured multiple engaging rounds, each crafted to challenge participants and expand their understanding of journalism. The enthusiasm and competitive spirit displayed by the participants were truly commendable, making the event both vibrant and enriching.

At the conclusion of the quiz, winners were announced:

  • First Prize: Asawari Telange
  • Second Prize: Bhaskar Dwivedi

Both winners showcased exceptional knowledge and a strong passion for journalism, setting a high standard for future events.

Participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the quiz for its informative and engaging content. Many expressed excitement for similar events in the future, recognizing the quiz as a valuable platform for learning and networking.

Visit to Free Press Journal – A Glimpse into the World of Journalism

The Press Connect Club organized an educational visit to the Free Press Journal, offering students a unique opportunity to explore the workings of one of India’s leading publications. Under the guidance of Ms. Jasmine Tamboli, Teacher-in-Charge, and with the support of Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, the visit provided an enriching behind-the-scenes experience of news production—from observing the printing press in action to engaging in conversations with the editorial team.

Students gained valuable insights into news gathering, fact-checking, and editorial decision-making, and had the privilege of interacting with the editor, who shared perspectives on unbiased reporting and the evolving media landscape. The experience left participants inspired and better informed about the responsibilities and challenges of modern journalism. The visit received enthusiastic feedback and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to offering impactful learning opportunities in the field of media and communication.

CONNECT WITH PRESS - WEBINAR SERIES

July 1-10, 2023         Attendees: 57

Press Connect Club and The Growth Development and Change Cell of H.R. College organized an online digital marketing course to upskill the students in the concepts of Digital Marketing. The certificate course was conducted in collaboration with Academy of Digital Arts and was open for all. Students were also given the opportunity to learn and master new trends and major prospects for innovation in this field.

In this 30-hour programme course, students learnt about the creation, production, and implementation of digital marketing, distribution techniques such as email marketing, web-based marketing, and mobile marketing. After the successful completion of the course students were awarded with certificates.

FIELD VISIT TO SAKAL GROUP’S SAAM TV

Press Connect: The Journalism Club of HRC organized a field visit to Sakal Group's SAAM TV for the students of SY and TY BAMMC. The visit was a grand success, with students learning the complete workings of Saam TV: an electronic news channel, including how the news is reported and the entire journey from the desk to going on Air.

Talking about Saam TV, it’s an entertainment and news channel owned by Maharashtra’s leading Sakal Media Group. Saam TV programming primarily consists of family dramas, cooking shows, news, and Movies. Saam TV, a Marathi entertainment and news channel, brings to light the vibrant attitude of the young generation through its interesting stories.

Every student had an opportunity to meet each department. Students interacted with the Editor, went to the input and output desk, the PCR and MCR rooms, met the anchors. The entire process was immensely informative and was appreciated by each of the students.

VISIT TO NMIC

September 16, 2023         Attendees: 42

Press Connects second visit of the academic year 23-24 took the students of FY and SYBAMMC to the National Museum of Indian Cinema. A total of 42 film enthusiasts visited NMIC that day. The National Museum of Indian Cinema was inaugurated in the year 2019.

These film enthusiasts were delighted to visit NMIC. They participated in a script writing workshop conducted by Sir Paul George. At the end of the workshop every student was provided with a workshop completion certificate. Their knowledge was put to test with a script writing activity later. Post the workshop, few of the attendees were interviewed by the national television channel Doordarshan for their experience. Post lunch, students were taken on a tour of the entire four-storey facility by one of the guides. The entire establishment was a piece of art, containing a lot of precious information about films ranging from the pre-independence period to the modern age. The visit was a great success, with the students enjoying every second of it.

Ms. Anjali Jha was the honourable guest talker for the first episode, who guided student about lifestyle and fashion aspect of journalism and shared her experiences. The Webinar was attended by 16 students, teachers, faculty in-charge Ms. Jasmine Tamboli, and our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani who graced the event.

Press Connect- The Journalism Club of H.R. College organized second episode of their webinar series, titled ‘Connect with Press’, featuring a prominent radio jockey, Mr. Shailendra U. Nagrale. The webinar aimed at providing insights and information about the art of radio jockeying. It was an interactive webinar, with participants asking questions and sharing their own experiences in the field of media. RJ Shailendra was very accommodating and provided insightful answers, encouraging the audience to pursue their passion for radio jockeying. Overall, the second episode of the ‘Connect with Press’ webinar series was a highly informative and engaging event, providing valuable insights into the art of radio jockeying.

This event was all about capturing realistic photography that showcases moods and emotions in the most beautiful way.
