Session on Substance Abuse and Addiction

The Prahari Club of H.R. College conducted an impactful awareness session on Substance Abuse and Addiction: Its Effects and Prevention, benefiting 250 students. Esteemed speakers—including national addiction consultant Mr. Bosco D’Souza, Justice Pawankumar G. Tapadiya, Advocate Manisha Chavan, Mr. Mohammed Imtiyaz, and social worker Ms. Chetna Sawant—addressed various forms of addiction, legal implications, early warning signs, and preventive measures.
Teacher-in-charge Mr. Vijay Tandalekar emphasized how activities like yoga and sports can help youth avoid addictive behaviours. Vice Principal Ms. Rekha Verma and Mr. Tandalekar also felicitated the dignitaries. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, an oath against addiction, and the introduction of the club’s core committee. Overall, the session successfully equipped students with practical knowledge to make informed, healthy choices.
Maritime Week 2025

Maritime Week 2025 at NESCO, Goregaon East, organized by the Mumbai Port Authority in collaboration with the Directorate General of Shipping and the Indian Coast Guard. The visit offered students an engaging introduction to India’s maritime heritage and the functioning of the shipping industry.
Students explored exhibition stalls on marine technology, logistics, and sustainable port operations, and attended interactive sessions led by industry experts. Live demonstrations—including safety drills and navigational simulations by the Indian Coast Guard—added practical insights to the learning experience.
The visit proved highly informative, enhancing students’ understanding of the maritime sector and highlighting diverse career opportunities in shipping, logistics, and port management.

Poster Making Competition

On the 24th of September,2024 Prahari Club organised a Poster Making Competition at H.R College, aiming to raise awareness about addiction prevention and substance abuse. The competition revolved around two thought-provoking themes: "Addiction: A Journey to Nowhere" and "Lord Ganesha's Wisdom: Avoiding the Path of Substance Abuse."
The event witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement. Students diligently crafted their posters, showcasing their artistic skills and grasp of the themes. Upon conclusion, certificates and winning gifts were presented to the awardees.
Poetry Writing Competition by Prahari Club

The Prahari Club organised an Online Poetry Writing Competition. The themes for the competition revolved around the Club's theme—The Prevention of Substance abuse. The event witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement, with students from various classes and courses participating in the competition. Students crafted their poems with care, showcasing their creative skills, imagination, and emotional quotient. Certificates were given to all the participants and gifts were awarded to the winners.
Substance Abuse and Addiction: Effects and Prevention

Prahari Club organised a thought-provoking awareness session on the topic Substance Abuse and Addiction: Its Effects and Prevention. The session was led by esteemed guest speakers Mr. Bosco D'Souza, a renowned national trainer and addiction consultant serving since past three decades, Advocate Manisha Chavan and Ms. Ananya Patak from District Legal Service Authorities (D.L.S.A), and Ms. Chetna Sawant, a dedicated social worker.
Mr. D'Souza addressed various forms of addiction, including digital addiction, highlighting their harmful effects on individuals and society and how to cope from being trapped into these addictions. The next speaker Ms Ananya Patak oriented the students towards the work of D.L.S.A and it's various available schemes to help those in need of legal assistance.
The session was well-attended by the students who actively participated in the discussions following a Q&A session which enlightened them with practical advice and real life examples.
The students took a pledge to steer clear of substance addiction. A vote of thanks was given by the club president. The teacher in-charge Dr. Vijay Tandalekar expressed his gratitude to the speakers.

On the occasion of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Jayanti,the Prahari Club and N.S.S Unit of H.R.College proudly participated in the 'Jai Bhim Padayatra' organized by the Ministry of Youth and MyBharat organization on April 13,2025.The padayatra commenced at 9 a.m. from Nariman Point and culminated at the Dr.B.R.Ambedkar statue near Mantralaya.
This symbolic walk embodied the values of social justice,equality and brotherhood,while paying tribute to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar's invaluable contributions to society.Prior to the padayatra,a captivating cultural program was held at the reporting ground,featuring acts,drama and speeches by prominent guests that highlighted Dr.Ambedkar's life and legacy.
Our students participated with enthusiasm and pride,carrying forward the spirit of equality and social justice.They walked with banners and chanted slogans showcasing their solidarity with the cause.The event served as a powerful reminder of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar's vision for an inclusive and equitable society,inspiring our students to strive for a better future.
