THE SPORTS COUNCIL

The Sports Council is the apex sporting body, which aims at promoting fitness, and sportsmanship, to provide its players complete support by ensuring an easy and hassle-free foundation to participate in multiple sporting events and win laurels for the College.

It also plays a prominent role in organizing and participating in numerous Inter and Intra-Collegiate events and plays a vital role in efficiently organizing several college activities. HR College puts a lot of emphasis on the all-round development of our students.

That is why we continuously encourage and energize our students to play sports and participate in sporting events at the intercollegiate, university, state, national and international levels. Sport is an important element in our holistic approach to education. Playing sports not only builds character but also secures a student's physical, social, and emotional health.

Our students consistently perform exceedingly well in events they take part in, winning accolades for themselves and strengthening the reputation of the institution, and spreading it far and wide.


ACTIVITIES 2023-2024

H.R. SUPER SERIES

September 11-12, 2023         Attendees: 100-150

The Sports Council of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized H.R. Super Series at Wadala Sports Club, Wadala, Mumbai. H.R. Super Series is a selection trial tournament for indoor sports namely badminton, chess, carrom and table tennis over a period of 2 days.

Day 1 consisted of badminton, carrom and table tennis for Junior and Degree college boys. The tournament commenced with the event heads briefing the Core Committee and players about the rules and regulations of the sports followed by the selection trials.

Day 2 of H.R. Super Series comprised of table tennis, badminton and carrom for Junior and Degree college girls, and chess for Junior and Degree college boys and girls. The series ended with the Prize Distribution Ceremony where winners were felicitated by Dr. Vijay Tandalekar, the Sports Director of H.R. College and martial arts expert Mr. Ramesh Jadhav, President of ‘Maharashtra Association of Sports and Fitness for All’.

ACTIVITIES 2022-2023

SUBROTO CUP - A FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

On the behalf of the District Sports Organisation (DSO), The Sports Council of H.R. College helped in organizing The Subroto Cup - A Football Tournament for the year 2022.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

August 29, 2022         Attendees: 85

The Sports Council celebrated National Sports Day with the students of Andhra Education Society's High School, an NGO run school in Wadala. The programme began with a speech on the importance and significance of the day followed by a pledge. A Kho-Kho Competition was held for students of standards 5 to 10 to awaken the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork in each of them.

H.R. SUPER SERIES

September 26-27, 2022         Attendees: 180

The Sports Council of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized H.R. Super Series at Wadala Sports Club. Day 1 comprised of Table Tennis and badminton. The Programme commenced with the event heads briefing the players followed by the selection trials. The 2nd day of Super Series comprised of Carrom and Chess. The objective of the Super Series was to conduct selection trials for the above-mentioned sports. The winning students were thrilled to receive gold medals and certificates.

DISTRICT LEVEL - ORGANISED

DSO FOOTBALL

November 15-22, 2022

The Sports Council organised Football at the District Level in association with the DSO for the U14, U17 and U19 category for boys and girls. Responsibilities of verifying the registered participants, handling team queries, and overlooking the matches were entrusted upon the Sports Council.

DSO ATHLETICS

December 8,12 & 14, 2022

The Sports Council (SC) organised Athletics at the District level for the first time in conjunction with the DSO for the U14, U17 and U19 category for boys and girls which witnessed participation from schools across Mumbai City District participated in several track and field events. The Sports Council played a crucial role in assisting the officials and ensuring timely conduct of the events.

INTRA COLLEGIATE ORGANISED

THE ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

January 31 - February 1, 2023         Attendees: 2500+

The Sports Council of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organised the Annual Sports Meet. It was a two-day event held on January 31, 2023 and February 1, 2023.

The Sports Day held on January 31, 2023 at University Sports Ground, Marine Lines included March past, track and field events and Tug of war. There were more than 2500 students present on day to make the event a huge success.

The Sports day began with the March past followed by the flag hoisting and opening ceremony.

Chief Guest Ms. Shraddha Anand Gambhir and our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani administered the oath of sportsmanship which was taken by our in-charge Sports Director Dr. Vijay Tandalekar. There was also a special Band performance by the students of Dr. Antonio Da Silva High School.

The meet commenced with the track and field events. The much-awaited relay race was right after the individual events. The last event of the day – ‘Tug of War’ witnessed intense competition. The B.Voc Committee emerged as Winners of Tug of War while Rotaract Club of H.R. College (RCHR) stood second.

Day 2, February 1, 2023, comprised of H.R. Premier League, held at Oval Maidan, Churchgate; Score-A-Goal & Serve-to-Survive held at Karnataka Sporting Association Ground, Churchgate. The Public Speaking & Debating Society (PSDS) bagged the First Podium in Score-A-Goal whereas Rotaract Club of H.R. College (RCHR) bagged Second Place.The First and Second Place for Serve-to-Survive were bagged by Investment Club of H.R. College (ICHR) and Rotaract Club of H.R. College (RCHR) respectively. Investment Club of H.R. College (ICHR) came first while Rotaract Club of H.R. College (RCHR) came Second in H.R. Premier League.

The Overall Winners and Runners Up for The Annual Sports Meet were Public Speaking & Debating Society (PSDS) and Rotaract Club of H.R. College (RCHR) respectively.

INTER COLLEGIATE ORGANISED

H.R. SUPER LEAGUE

March 10-16, 2023

H.R. Super League - an intercollegiate cricket and volleyball tournament organised by the Sports Council of H.R. College was held at Oval Maidan and Shishuvan Pavilion. The tournament was a grand success with over 25 colleges participating, and more than 150 participants competing for the top spot.

ZIPCODE 2022

December 7-9, 2022         Location: K.C. Auditorium

The Sports Council and The Students’ Council of H.R. College jointly participated in Zipcode organized by The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College.

The Students’ Council & The Sports Council together secured the First Position in the entire event. A variety of events on business, dance, fashion, and cooking, took place during the vibrant and adventurous fest that The International Programmes Committee arranged. Participants explored different options and challenged themselves by participating in many new events.

YUVA PREMIERE LEAGUE.

November 18-19, 2022

The Sports Council of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics participated in Yuva Premiere League - an Inter Collegiate Event organized by Naginda’s Khandwala College, B.K. Birla College and NASM Institute.

The Sports Council of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics participated in Fury’23, organised by NMIMS School of Economics.The Girls’ Football Team secured First Place and Mr. Rishabh Shah of F.Y.BMS secured First Place in Chess.

PARAKRAM

The Sports Council of our college enthusiastically participated in Parakram, an Inter Collegiate sports fest organized by NMIMS School of Law. The event witnessed intense competition and showcased the exceptional skills and determination of our athletes.

ACTIVITIES 2021-2022

ADMISSION PROCESS

August to October 2021

The College entrusted The Sports Council with the responsibility of managing and conducting the Admission Process alongside The Students' Council. Like every year, we conducted admissions for over 3000 students across Junior and Degree colleges. The admissions were carried out on both online and offline modes. It consisted of solving queries of the students, submission of documents, and other administration work.

RECRUITMENT

The Sports Council conducted its Recruitment Drive for Junior and Degree College students who aspired to be a part of the Apex Sporting Body of the College. Interview rounds were scheduled for more than 350 students over 2 weeks. Vedika Kabra, Yash Ganguli, and Yashika Varshney jointly headed it.

GENERAL BODY MEETING

November 39, 2021

The Annual General Body Meeting with the newly elected members was brought together and warmly welcomed to the Sports Council Family. This year, it was conducted in a hybrid mode where the recruits got a glimpse of their roles and responsibilities and learned about the activities and achievements of the Council throughout the year.

H.R. SUPER SERIES

December 16-18, 2021

The H.R. Super Series, a three-day Selection Trial Tournament was conducted. Sports enthusiasts of Junior and Degree College, who wish to be a part of the College Team, came for the selections. H.R. Super Series included sports such as Badminton, Chess, Carrom, and Table Tennis. This year due to the Pandemic situation, H.R. Super Series was conducted in hybrid mode with Badminton and Carrom being held at Wadala Sports Club and Chess being held online.

SPORTS FIESTA '22

February 3-5, 2022

The Sports Council, determined to not let any sports enthusiast down, organized the 2nd edition of Sports Fiesta, an Online Megafest amidst the spread of the Omicron variant. It featured 8 events spread over 3 days! Sports Fiesta '22 received an overwhelming response from all the Clubs of the College and witnessed about 250 participants.

SYJC P.E. PRACTICAL

The Sports Council single-handedly conducted the P.E. Practical for the SYJC Board Examination aspirants of H.R. College on the 18th, 21st, and 28th February 2022. Boys and Girls were made to perform several exercises.

CRICKET AND FOOTBALL SELECTIONS

March 5-6, 2022

The Sports Council conducted Selection Trials for the College's Cricket and Football teams. This gave all the cricket and football enthusiasts a chance to be a part of the College team and represent the College in various Inter-Collegiate Events.

THE ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

March 24-25, 2022

The Sports Council conducted its Flagship Event, where all the clubs of the College competed against each other. On a whole, The Annual Sports Meet had over 400 students showcase their sporting prowess.

The Annual Sports Meet comprised of the following:

  • H.R. Premier League - Overarm Cricket tournament for boys, held at Oval Maidan, Churchgate.
  • Score-A-Goal - A Football tournament for boys was held at the Karnatak Sporting Association Ground.
  • Handball Hustle - A Handball tournament exclusively for girls, held at the Karnatak Sporting Association Ground.
  • Annual Sports Day - The Flagship event of the Annual Sports Meet was held at Priyadarshini Park, Malabar Hill.

The Students' Council won the Overall Contingent Trophy while RCHR bagged the Runners up Position.

ACTIVITIES 2020-2021

Admissions Process

Though online, The Sports Council along with The Students’ Council successfully executed the responsibility of carrying out the Admissions Process for the students of the Degree College. Conducted over a span of 3 months, the team worked on resolving queries and maintaining precise documentation, all from the safety of their homes.

Recruitment

The Sports Council conducted its recruitment drive for the students of Junior and Degree College from January 7, 2021. Being the only gateway to the apex sporting body, the Recruitment Process consisted of class PR followed by interview rounds for the interested students.

General Body Meeting

The Annual General Body Meeting was scheduled on the April 2, 2021 to welcome all the newly selected recruits to the Sports Council family. This year, it was conducted virtually and the recruits were given a gist of the council activities, the roles and responsibilities and the achievements.

Sports Fiesta '21

Though hindered by the covid 19 pandemic, the Sports Council was bent on bringing something interesting and innovative for all the sports enthusiasts, thus organising Sports Fiesta '21- the first ever virtual sporting extravaganza. It was conducted on 16th, 17th and 18th April, 2021 and consisted of 6 events over the course of 3 days. Sports Fiesta '21 witnessed an overwhelming response of more than 15 clubs. G.E.M.S. Club emerged as the overall Winner and ICHR bagged the runner-up position.

INTRA COLLEGIATE WINS 2020-2021

Numero Uno – organised by the Students' Council of H.R. College held on October 26-28, 2020. The Sports Council emerged as Overall Runners Up in the Fest.

Discidium - a Business and Economics Festival of H.R. College organised on February 13-15, 2021. The council bagged the Overall Second Position.

Blaze - A mix of sports, cultural, management, and business events, Blaze, was organised by the Investment Club of H.R. College on March 25-27, 2021.

Callisto - GEMS Club of H.R. College organised a 2-day Virtual Event - Callisto on November 28-29, 2020. The CLs Simran Khetwani and Vivek Dhamai won the best CL and ACL Award for their enthusiastic leadership approach.

Talent Parade - the most awaited and celebrated Cultural Event of H.R. College was held on May 7, 2021. Although the platform changed from offline to online, the Sports Council yet again proved its mettle by bagging the overall 1st Position.

ACTIVITIES 2019-2020

1. Admission Process

The Sports Council along with The Students' Council has the privilege of managing and conducting internal and external admission procedure for more than 6,000 students. This includes the declaration of merit lists, verification of documents, assisting parents and students with their doubts and collection of fees over a span of 3 months.

Every year, The Sports Council is instrumental in organizing the orientations for the first year students of Junior and Degree College.

7. Selection Trials

The selection trials prove to be a successful gateway for budding sportsmen to display their talent at a higher level. Trials are conducted for various sports and entries of shortlisted players are sent to the respective authorities. The players are provided with equipment and other facilities required for enhancing their performance throughout the year.
