SYNC – SYNTHESIS OF YOGA AND NIYAMA COUNCIL

SYNTHESIS OF YOGA AND NIYAMA COUNCIL is also known as the SYNC club, was founded with the vision of weaving Yoga, fitness, and wellness into the fabric of the lives of today’s youth and has always been actively involved in promoting Yoga as a way of life, which helps to sync one's mind, body, and soul.

It provides a holistic blend between academics and extracurricular activities, bringing out the best in each student, and enhancing their confidence and skills. The club is responsible for conducting the International Yoga Day as per AAYUSH ministry Directives and Protocols.

SYNC contributes to the college's mission of developing student leaders through organizing and participating in intercollegiate fests; as well as to the college’s social commitments to bring change in society by organizing outreach and fitness programs for internal and external stakeholders.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA QUIZ COMPETITION 2023-24

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, SYNC of H.R College of Commerce and Economics organized its first event which was an online quiz. The main objective of this event was to encourage students to gain general knowledge on yoga and health, apart from subject knowledge. It was a very informative quiz for the participants and students learnt a lot from it.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA POSTER MAKING COMPETITION 2023-2024

SYNC of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organized an online poster-making competition on the theme of the importance of yoga. Students took part in the poster-making competition with great enthusiasm, showcasing their innovative ideas to help spread awareness about the importance of yoga. Students made very creative posters and through this competition, increased their knowledge of yoga.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA POETRY WRITING COMPETITION 2023-24

To spread the importance of Yoga, the SYNC of H.R College of Commerce and Economics organised a creative poetry writing competition in an online mode.

This competition was the 3rd online event in the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023-24 series. Through this competition, the participants were able to express their thoughts, feelings, and views on the importance of yoga in the poetic form.

IDY BODY POSITIVITY WORKSHOP 2023-24

SYNC of H.R College of Commerce and Economics organized an online Body Positivity workshop with Ms Anvita Dixit. This workshop aimed to create a positive and informative discussion about body image for students. The conversation emphasized how much impact body image has on self-esteem, confidence and mental health

The workshop began with a discussion on the importance of self-love, encouraging us to be confident and feel comfortable in our own skin. The conversation continued towards the topic of manifestation and affirmations. Ms. Dixit advised students to be in company of people who are positive and supportive in their journey of body positivity.

Ms Anvita Dixit answered all questions and also shared some inspiring personal stories to motivate the students. The workshop ended with a formal vote of thanks.

International Yoga Day Celebration

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Synthesis of Yoga and Niyama Council of H.R. College organized two sessions, one for its members and one for the teaching and non-teaching staff by instructor Ms. Pooja Mayuki.

In the first session titled: Train the Trainers Session; members of SYNC were taught Suryanamaskara, and Vrikshasana and were made aware of the importance of Pranayama. Everyone started with Suryanamaskara and continued with Vrikshasana, and practiced variations of both.

In the second session, the teaching and non-teaching staff of H.R. College did Yoga on Chair. Ms. Mayuki taught the significance of Pranayama and its curative aspects. Every participant took part in the practice of Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari Pranayama, followed by Kapalbhati.Participants learned about the importance of yoga and practiced many important and useful poses of yoga workout.

SYNC VISIT TO NGO

On June 27, 2023, SYNC of H.R College of Commerce & Economics had the opportunity to visit Angel Xpress Foundation. Angel Xpress Foundation (AXF) is a volunteer-led, community-based non-profit that seeks to bridge the socio-economic divide in our cities by empowering students from low-income families through education, skilling, and overall development.

The purpose of the visit was to contribute to Ms. Pooja Mayuki’s initiative to spread the importance of yoga learnt by our volunteers in the ‘Train the Trainers’ workshop held on June 21 2023. The goal was to introduce the children to the benefits of yoga, help them practice basic yoga postures, and learn about some relaxation techniques to manage stress and improve overall well-being. The yoga session was followed by a fun round of games and a bonding session.

Teaching yoga at Angel Xpress Foundation was an enriching and fulfilling experience. The enthusiasm portrayed by the kids was extremely encouraging and SYNC volunteers would love to conduct more such workshops in the future.

HEALTHY DIET WORKSHOP

SYNC of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics recently organized a highly informative and engaging healthy diet session featuring a guest speaker, Mrs. Saloni Kothari. The session was focused on enlightening the participants about the significance of maintaining a healthy diet and adopting a more active lifestyle.

During the session, Mrs. Kothari shared valuable insights on how to maintain a nutritious diet, particularly in the context of one's daily routine. Participants were educated about the importance of making wise food choices and were introduced to practical alternatives to packaged food.

The session also highlighted the manifold benefits of being physically active. Participants were informed that regular exercise not only helps manage various health issues but also plays a pivotal role in enhancing mental well-being. In conclusion, the workshop was an exceptionally enriching and insightful event that left a positive impact on all the attendees.

SELF LOVE WORKSHOP BY MS. JANET BRAY ATTWOOD

The workshop, facilitated by Ms. Janet Bray Attwood, an expert in the field of mental health and self-development, focused on fostering a positive and compassionate relationship with oneself. The workshop began with insightful discussions on the importance of self-love in mental well-being and personal growth. Participants engaged in reflective exercises, exploring their strengths, achievements, and areas for growth. Interactive activities, such as group discussions and guided meditations, the passion test, allowed attendees to share their experiences and learn from one another. Practical tools and techniques were provided to help participants cultivate self-compassion and overcome self-limiting beliefs. The workshop emphasized the significance of self-care practices and setting healthy boundaries in nurturing a strong sense of self-worth.

SYNC OF H.R. College of Commerce and Economics recently organized a seminar on ‘Creating Love in the Workplace’ for the faculty of the college conducted by Ms. Janet Bray Attwood. This transformative seminar observed great participation from the teachers as well as the principal. The session created a positive and inclusive environment, fostering a sense of comfort among teachers. The day comprised various empowering exercises designed to enhance self- esteem and well-being. She skillfully guided the faculty through activities aimed at boosting confidence and promoting a positive mindset. The seminar was particularly noteworthy for its emphasis on individual growth, as Ms. Janet created a great and comfortable atmosphere for all the attendees and also took one on one sessions for some teachers. This personalized approach allowed for targeted discussions on professional development and addressed specific concerns. The interactive nature of the event facilitated open dialogue, encouraging a collaborative exchange of ideas among the faculty. The purpose of this Faculty Development Programme underscores the importance of personalized, empowering initiatives in nurturing a positive academic environment. The event served as a catalyst for ongoing efforts to prioritize faculty well-being and professional growth within the institution.

Elysium

As the word ELYSIUM means Paradise, the biggest and only fitness fest of Mumbai, Elysium created a paradise for those who were fitness enthusiasts, whether it be the participants, the judges or the organizers. SYNC of H.R College of Commerce and Economics was back with the most anticipated 8th edition of Mumbai's Biggest and Only College fitness festival – Elysium 2024! The theme of our flagship fitness fest – Elysium 2024, this year was REALITY SHOWS. Elysium 2024 was filled with laughter, emotions, drama, glamour, challenges, and the ultimate test of fitness.

ACUPRESSURE WORKSHOP

SYNC of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organised an Acupressure Workshop with a Certified Acupressure and Acupuncture Therapist, Ms. Pragati Kanugo. The workshop was conducted to educate students on the Practice of Acupressure in their daily lives. The instructor also discussed and explained the Pros and Cons of this practice.

About the Instructor:

Anvita Dixit, the founder of SYNC club of HR is trained in the classical form of Yoga from Kaivalyadhama Yoga Center. She has a Diploma in Yoga Education from Kaivalyadhama and has been teaching Yoga for several years, both in India and abroad, and has extensive experience in teaching Yoga to individuals as well as corporations.

About the Event:

SYNC Club of H.R. College collaborated with Ms. Anvita Dixit to teach some yoga asanas to our college faculty. Ms. Dixit taught some yoga poses including parvatasana, ardhakati chakrasana, neck stretches, anulom vilom, and sideways stretches and explained the benefits of each asana.

SYNC X KAIVALYADHAMA - PHOTOSHOOT AND VISIT TO ANGEL XPRESS FOUNDATION NGO

About the Instructor:

Anvay Dixit is a certified yoga trainer from Kaivaldhyama and the co-founder of Yogic Gurukul. He graduated from H.R. College in 2022 with a Bachelor in Management Studies (BMS) Degree. He has a keen interest in learning about yoga, spirituality and Indian culture.

About the Event:

SYNC Club of H.R. College in collaboration with Kaivalyadhama conducted a photoshoot while doing yoga asanas at some of the most iconic places in Mumbai such as CSMT Selfie Point, the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and Kala Ghoda. This activity was done in association with the upcoming International Day of Yoga and was an initiative towards promoting yoga and spreading its awareness among the masses of Mumbai.

Students of SYNC Club of H.R. College along with a certified yoga trainer from Kaivalyadhama and our very own H.R. Alumni, Anvay Dixit visited the Angel Xpress Foundation (Colaba), a Mumbai-based Non-Profit Organization working for the education of underprivileged children.

SYNC members interacted with the children and Mr. Dixit taught them some easy-to-do yoga poses explaining the significance behind each asana in one’s life.

ACUPRESSURE WORKSHOP FOR TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF

About the Instructor:

Pragati Kanugo is an acupressure and acupuncture therapist, who is associated with ACU Care Institute of Maharashtra. She is an acupuncture therapist since 2021. She has conducted several workshops on these therapies in various schools, colleges, and organizations for different age groups such as children, youth and adults.

About the Event:

SYNC of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organised an Acupressure Workshop for all the teachers and non-teaching staff with Ms. Pragati Kanugo. The workshop was conducted under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, an initiative by the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence.

The event started with a small introduction on acupressure and how it evolved. The workshop covered acupressure points for numerous health issues such headaches, backache, knee ache, stomach ache and so on. The instructor informed about the various kinds of therapies such as seed, colour and auricular therapies that could be easily practiced at home. This was an insightful workshop for all the participants involved and it demonstrated how the correct form of massage can help lead a healthier life.

ZUMBA WORKSHOP FOR FYs

August 29-30, 2022         Attendees: 70

SYNC of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organised a two-day Zumba Workshop exclusively for the First Year Degree college students. The workshop was conducted by two SYNC members, Gauri Phatak and Muskan Panjwani. The participants were instructed to do some high and low-intensity music-driven dance moves. These moves boost the heart rate, improve coordination, tone the entire body, and most importantly help to de-stress thus increasing sense of well-being and happiness.

FITNESSIA - 30 HOURS OF FITNESS AND FUN

College of Commerce & Economics organized “FITNESSIA - 30 hours of Fitness and Fun”, a 30-hour Fitness and Wellness Certified Programme with an aim to encourage all the students to stay mentally, physically, and spiritually active by engaging in 20 exhilarating and refreshing workshops.

FOLK DANCE WORKSHOP

September 12, 2022         Attendees: 60

The first workshop run under the FITNESSIA programme was the Folk Dance Workshop, conducted by a Folk Dance Specialist, Abhishek Walekar. The workshop started with practicing the choreography of the Deva Shree Ganesha song. Later, the instructor and all the SYNC members danced to different Bollywood songs.

The participants in a group of three were expected to perform the choreography that was taught in the class. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks.

SEQUENCE YOGA AND YOGANCE WORKSHOP

September 13, 2022         Attendees: 32

A Yoga Expert Priti Tejwani led the Sequence Yoga and YOGANCE Workshop. YOGANCE combines dance, yoga, and pranayama. The event began with soothing background music and a brief introduction to YOGANCE. Yoga asanas such as Ardh Chakrasana, Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana, Padmasana, and others were covered in the workshop. The instructor also played a Quick Quiz of 100 seconds challenge of asanas with the participants. The instructor taught about the magic of YOGANCE and how to enjoy yoga.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY WORKSHOP

September 14, 2022         Attendees: 33

The Nutritional Therapy workshop was conducted by RD Clinical Dietitian, Nutritionist, and Health & Wellness speaker Dr. Geetanjali Ahuja Mengi. A brief review of a balanced diet and exercise was given before the session began. The exact diet that must be followed in order to maintain both physical and mental health was reviewed in the session. Using everyday household items like milk, cereal, and lentils, the lecturer discussed the various types of proteins and carbs that should be taken. The session highlighted the need to incorporate healthy food in our diets in order to live a healthy life.

MUSIC THERAPY WORKSHOP

September 15, 2022         Attendees: 64

Roshan Mansukhani, a certified music therapist, led a Music Therapy Workshop. The session started with a quick review of music therapy and how sharing one’s thoughts may help one relax. The instructor discussed how stress can be harmful and how music may help overcome it.

He shared some personal experiences and gave advice on how to deal with stress effectively. It was an informative workshop emphasizing how music may help one live a healthier lifestyle.

ZUMBA WORKSHOP

September 16, 2022         Attendees: 28

The Zumba Workshop was conducted by a certified zumba Instructor, Manasi Katkar. The event started with an introduction of Manasi Katkar. The session started on an enthusiastic note by practicing some easy yet fun zumba steps.

The instructor taught the participants some interesting steps which can be done daily. The participants enjoyed it a lot and they got to know a way that reduces stress and helps gain confidence on the floor. The session ended on a positive note.

ART THERAPY WORKSHOP

September 17, 2022         Attendees: 32

The Art Therapy workshop was conducted with a certified art professional, Ms. Molshree Jain, who’s also an alumnus of H.R. college.

The workshop covered teaching of various forms of art such as Mandala Art. The instructor started by teaching the participants how to make a grid and later told the participants to draw whatever came to their mind. The instructor displayed her designs and shared what inspired her to draw those designs. Later, she appreciated the art of the participants by praising their work. Overall, it was an insightful workshop for all the participants and it demonstrated how art is a form of therapy and has proven helpful for many people.

7 CHAKRAS OF YOGA

September 19, 2022         Attendees: 38

The ‘7 Chakras of Yoga’ workshop started with an introduction of our instructor, Mr. Dilip Dauneria. The main highlight of the session was “the explanation of seven chakras (crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root).” The speaker highlighted the importance of the energy these wheels give to an individual for his/her endeavours. The workshop consisted of discussions on many topics such as the difference between the brain and mind, our reaction towards a stimulus and the way in which these wheels are helpful. Overall, it was a very interactive and insightful workshop.

UNWIND YOUR MIND

The Unwind your mind workshop was conducted with a Certified Professional, Mr. Jawaharlal Mehta. The event started with an introduction of Mr. Jawaharlal Mehta. The highlight of the session was: “Don’t let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace”.

The workshop consisted of discussions on many topics such as personal life, professional life, how to handle stress in certain situations, etc. Later, all the participants were asked to put forward a question regarding any one thing that they’re confused about in life or need guidance on and the speaker answered them all. The workshop was a very interactive and insightful one.

REIKI WORKSHOP

The Reiki workshop was led by a certified Reiki grand master, Charmi Shah. The event started with the introduction of Reiki & how it's beneficial to patients. The workshop helped the students to release their mental stress & focus on their goals. The instructor taught the healing technique that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. This was an insightful workshop for all the participants and demonstrated how Reiki practice can be cultivated in daily life.

BOLLYWOOD DANCE WORKSHOP

September 22, 2022         Attendees: 40

The Bollywood Dance workshop was led by a professional dance choreographer, Jitesh Arora. The workshop continued with identifying the hook step of a particular song. Various songs were played, and unique, easy steps were taught to the participants. Overall, the workshop was full of fun & enthusiasm.

SYMMETRY AND SYNERGY WORKSHOP

September 24, 2022         Attendees: 14

The Symmetry and Synergy Workshop was conducted by Ms. Trupti Jain. The workshop started with a brief introduction to the different yoga asanas and positions. The instructor taught everyone on how to easily maintain and synchronize a motion with various body parts. Along with teaching asanas like Vajrasana, Tadasana, and Vrikshasana, the instructor also demonstrated exercises for the spine and body twists. All the students were required to complete elbow planks, which proved to be challenging for everyone. She then taught the participants how to maintain their focus and confidence while working towards their objectives. She wrapped off the class with one of the fundamental breathing techniques i.e., Anulom Vilom.

GYM 101

The GYM 101: Beginner’s Guide to GYM workshop was conducted with a certified instructor Pankaj Manjrekar. The workshop began with the instructor mentioning the basics of GYM which included proper posture while doing gym, how to pick and hold dumbbells, etc. Furthermore, Mr. Manjrekar instructed all the participants to do some cardio exercises. It was a very insightful workshop.

LAUGHTER YOGA WORKSHOP

September 27, 2022         Attendees: 15

The Laughter Yoga workshop was led by a certified Laughter Yoga instructor, Sunder Bishnoi. The event started with a brief introduction of all the participants.

The instructor discussed the importance of laughter yoga and how it helps for living a healthy life. Mr. Bishnoi taught various sounds of laughter which included ‘haha’, ‘hehe’, ‘hoho’ and more. All the participants laughed their hearts out at this workshop.

CONFESSION BOX

September 27, 2022         Attendees: 16

The Confession Box was organised with the council’s very own founder and an alumnus of H.R. College, Ms. Anvita Dixit. The event started with a brief introduction of all the participants. Later, Anvita enlightened the participants on how she thought of starting this club and her journey of SYNC.

All the participants were told to put anonymous confessions in a box after which the instructor segregated them into broader categories and discussed those topics. The workshop consisted of discussions on many topics such as relationships, careers, youth, family issues, etc.

AEROBICS WORKSHOP

September 28, 2022         Attendees: 22

The Aerobics Workshop was led by a certified instructor Sandesh Bare. The workshop began with the introduction of the instructor and then later progressed with Mr. Bare teaching the four steps which involved dancing and stretching. He made the participants do those steps on various Bollywood mashup songs. He engaged in making a trending reel with the participants doing the Garba on a Navratri song. This was a high energy workshop which enthused all the participants.

SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOP

September 29, 2022         Attendees: 29

Ms. Muskan Tinani, a certified karate professional and a Third-Degree Black Belt led a Self Defence workshop for all college students. The workshop started with a 15-minute warm-up. Ms. Tinani instructed the participants on accessible forms that were quick to learn and easy to grasp such as a punch attack, thumb pressure, elbow attack, stomach attack, and many more. At the end, all the forms were revised and participants learned a lot about self defence.

HIIT WORKSHOP

October 1, 2022         Attendees: 10

The HIIT Workshop was led by a certified instructor Irfan Qureshi. The workshop began with some basic warm-up exercises to loosen the body. Later, the instructor made the participants do some high-intensive exercises such as push-ups, planks, squats, jumping jacks, etc. Mr. Qureshi made the participants do burpees, stating that it helps in enhancing strength as well as stamina. The workshop summed up by repeating these exercises. Overall, it was a very insightful workshop which filled all the participants with enthusiasm.

BREATH FOCUS

October 1, 2022         Attendees: 11

The Breath Focus workshop was conducted by a certified yoga instructor, Bhumi Dali. The event began with some basic breathing exercises followed by an activity of calming the participants with patterned breathing and music.

Later, the instructor suggested all the participants focus on their breathing. The workshop consisted of many interesting breathing activities. The event ended with the participants performing a walk while focusing on their breathing while walking.

DANCE THERAPY WORKSHOP

October 2, 2022         Attendees: 21

Ms. Madhuri Talim, a certified professional, led a workshop called “Dance Therapy” for all students at H.R. College of Commerce & Economics. She is a certified Expressive Arts and Dance Movement Therapy Practitioner. The workshop started with a brief introduction of the Instructor followed by 15 minutes of warm-up to get the body active. She made the participants do some activities, like body movement with twist in 3 planes (vertical, horizontal, and sagittal) to access areas of comfort in the body.

GARBA WORKSHOP

October 4, 2022         Attendees: 213

The Garba workshop was conducted by a certified garba teacher and choreographer Pooja Saraf. The event began with the teaching of basic garba steps followed by the presentation of those steps to the participants on music. A few teachers of H.R. college also joined the workshop.

A garba competition was held and the best male, best female and best costume of the event was awarded. The event wrapped with the participants dancing to multiple Bollywood and Garba songs.

Overall, it was a very exhilarating workshop and 30 hours of this certified Fitness and Wellness Programme was completed.

COUNSELOR’S FEST

February 20, 2023         Attendees: 50

SYNC and NSS Unit of H.R. College organised a “Counselor’s Fest” in collaboration with Advoiz. The counselors for the day were Aastha Kamra, a trainer psychologist currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, NLP mastery, and Gestalt wizardry. And Ifsha Qureshi, a clinical nutritionist and certified diabetes educator.

The session started with counselor Aastha Kamra giving insights on maintaining good relationships, followed by counselor Ifsha Qureshi speaking about nutrition and the significance of a balanced diet. This counseling session aimed to create awareness about essential aspects of mental health and the importance of asking for help whenever needed. Session ended with a formal vote of thanks.

PRANAYAMA: SECRET OF LIFE

February 20, 2023         Attendees: 25

SYNC and NSS Unit of H.R. College organised a breathing exercises workshop, “Pranayama: Secret of Life” with Ms. Pooja Mayuki. Ms. Mayuki began the session by sharing her life experiences and how she recovered from her disease with the help of yoga and spirituality. She instructed the students to perform Kapalbhati Pranayama, a rapid breathing technique that uses abdominal muscles for forceful active exhalation followed by slow, passive inhalation. This was followed by practice of two other forms: Anuloma Pranayama and Bhramari Pranayama. Ms. Mayuki talked about Prana (life) and explained how the goal of pranayama is to strengthen the connection between the body and the mind

INTERCOLLEGIATE ORGANISED

ELYSIUM 2023

Febraury 8-11, 2023

ELYSIUM is the biggest intra and inter-collegiate fitness festival of Mumbai organised by SYNC of H.R. College. The 8th Edition of ELYSIUM consisted of various events, workshops, competitions and much more. The participants of Elysium included multiple clubs and committees from H.R. College as well as representatives of different colleges from across Mumbai.

ACTIVITIES 2021-2022

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2021-22

June 19-21, 2021

SYNC of H.R. College collaborated with Kaivalyadhama and organized a 3-day yoga program because of the International Day of Yoga. Kaivalyadhama is one of the oldest yogic health centers, allowing practitioners to experience yoga holistically. Some of the customized programs include naturopathy, Ayurveda, kriyas, and yoga practices.

YOGA EXCLUSIVELY FOR STUDENTS

Yoga teaches us to be good to ourselves. Amidst the tough situation of the pandemic, proved to be a source of enlightenment for all the students. By the end of the session, all the students were relaxed and happy.

The session was inaugurated with a brief introduction of the instructor Mr. Sumit Chadha and the Guest of Honour Mr. Balram Talreja, a yoga teacher, health consultant, counselor, motivational speaker, and life coach with over 30 years of experience in the field. The session began with a motivating and inspiring speech about Yoga and its varied importance in our daily life by our respected Guest of Honor.

Our instructor successfully conducted the session. The instructor for all three days Mr. Sumit Chadha, a certified yoga teacher at Kaivalyadham has been training people in yoga for 5 years and caters to esteemed clients of South Mumbai in NGOs. This session was indeed energizing and enriching for all the attendees. The 3 days of power-packed sessions ended with our instructor and the guest of honour addressing queries.

HIP- HOP WORKSHOP

Dance is a stress buster activity that comes with numerous health benefits as well. SYNC of H.R College collaborated and organized an energetic dance session 'HIP-HOP' by Mr. Piyush Singhal, who trained under Kings United India, Dance Worx, and Mumbai. Mr. Singhal is also the winner of the DJD Crew division, Jaipur dance iconic award. Mr. Singhal shared knowledge regarding old-school hip-hop steps with a special focus on basic steps like whacking.

YOGA FOR WELL-BEING BY SADHGURU'S ISHA FOUNDATION

SYNC club of H.R College arranged an event of Yoga for Well-Being by Sadhguru's Isha Foundation. Instructor Ms. Snehlata Paranjape, a lawyer, practicing as counsel since 1982 at Bombay High Court, successfully conducted this event. In 2011, she did the Inner Engineering program and completed all other advanced programs offered by Isha. She has been volunteering with Isha since then.

BODY POSITIVITY

July 23, 2021 Participants: 30

SYNC Club in collaboration with Ms. Radhika Jagtap, organized a session on Body Positivity that focused on how one can love and accept their body and increase confidence. Ms. Jagtap began by showing the participants a presentation explaining body image and the impact negative body image has and steps to reduce its harm. She ended the presentation by giving tips on how to accept oneself and improve confidence and answered the participants' questions.

YOGA FOR WELL-BEING BY SADHGURU'S ISHA FOUNDATION

SYNC club of H.R. College collaborated and organized an energetic yoga session for well-being by Sadhguru's Isha Foundation for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. Instructor Dr. Shweta Pant successfully conducted this event. It started with the introduction of Isha Foundation and Sadhguru and then she taught the participants some yoga exercises like Namaskaram and Simha Kriya.

IMPORTANCE OF LIFE SKILLS SESSION BY ART OF LIVING

SYNC Club of H.R College arranged a session on the importance of life skills by the Art of Living foundation. The seminar had 30 participants and was streamed live on YouTube.

The instructor Manisha Shah has been a practitioner and facilitator of Art of Living for 12 years. She has trained thousands of students and corporate professionals to lead a stress-free and healthy life. She started the seminar by asking a few questions, thereby, explaining the meaning and importance of life skills and how to cherish and improve skills to become successful.

MANDALA WORKSHOP

SYNC Club conducted the Mandala workshop. The teacher discussed the importance of a mandala and demonstrated how to construct the outline of a mandala with some fine markers, giving it a beautiful design.

HIIT (HIGH-INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING)

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) is a relatively new training concept that is becoming increasingly popular. HIIT is a specialized form of interval training that involves short intervals of maximum intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate-intensity exercise or rest. SYNC Member, Sahil Nagwani, a student and fitness freak conducted an amazing session on HIIT. He taught various exercises like lunges, push-ups, and burpees to the attendees and then ended with stretching to cool down.

TEACHERS' DAY

September 5, 2021

SYNC Club of H.R College in collaboration with NSS, organized an online event for our dear faculty of degree and junior college. The event commenced with a beautiful Ganesh Vandana by our member Miss Gauri Phatak. Later Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Principal, and Dr. Navin Punjabi, Vice Principal of Degree College, addressed the students. Ms. Laju Sharma, Vice Principal of Junior College, narrated a captivating poem depicting the varied shades of a teacher. The degree college students Drshika Advani and Maitri Bhat presented a mesmerizing song mashup. The event had a Bollywood Tadka Round including English translations of Bollywood songs followed by a virtual tribute to teachers.

DANCE WORKSHOP

September 9, 2021

SYNC Club of H.R. College organized a Dance session with SYNC member, Muskan Panjwani. The event began with some easy-to-do warm-up exercises that helped prepare the body for dancing. Everyone flaunted their dance moves and could not stop grooving to the Punjabi beats of “Morni Banke” (from the movie Badhai Ho). Ms. Panjwani made sure everyone not only learned the dance steps but also enjoyed them while performing.

MARTIAL ARTS WORKSHOP

Martial arts are codified systems and traditions of combat practiced for many reasons such as self-defence; competition; physical, mental, and spiritual development; entertainment. It boosts body endurance and strength, improves coordination, and strengthens the muscles.

SYNC organized an amazing Martial Arts Workshop with SYNC Member Navya Rao with 18 participants. She has four years of experience in martial arts. The session commenced with a series of jumping jacks and high knees as warm-up exercises. She made the attendees do the combination of kicking and boxing and then ended with stretching to cool down.

ZUMBA WORKSHOP

September 22, 2021

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training - alternating fast and slow rhythms - to help improve cardiovascular fitness.

SYNC members Khushi Mehta & Meghana Saripalli conducted this energetic Zumba session. There were about 16 participants in the event. The session began with some basic warm-up exercises followed by BTS and Bollywood mixed songs. Both instructors were energetic and amazing at every step.

YOGA FOR NON -TEACHING STAFF

Yoga, today globally recognized as a systematic meditative, therapeutic, and curative practice. There is an ever-increasing need and awareness for stronger immunity, steady recovery, and a balanced healthy lifestyle.

SYNC organized a special Yoga session for the Non-Teaching Staff with Kaivalyadhama instructor Alpa Master, on the College premises. The session started with an explanation of the rules and breathing techniques of Yoga. Alpa taught different yoga asanas and also explained the benefits of all the asanas. As a part of meditation Bhramari Pranayama and Om, chanting was taught.

GARBA WORKSHOP

Bolly folk is a type of Bollywood Garba. It is different from the traditional Garba and dandiya and includes a few Bollywood moves in it. It is a joyful style of dance, based on a circular pattern and characterized by a sweeping action from side to side.

Ms. Pooja Saraf who has done her M.A. in folks and has taken training in various dance forms including classical, Bollywood, etc conducted the workshop. She is a choreographer for more than a decade.

ICEBREAKERS ZUMBA WORKSHOP

Zumba is a fitness program, a combination of Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms, which target many different muscle groups at once for total body toning.

SYNC Club of H.R. College organized an energetic Ice Breakers Zumba workshop with Miss Kanchi Gupta, co-founder of 2 To Tango. The workshop began with basic warm-up exercises that helped prepare the body for Zumba. After warming up, the stupendous Zumba performance began with energetic Bollywood songs. The instructor's high energy level boosted all our participants to go crazy on Zumba beats!

It is a science and art of healthy and sound living which involves physical poses, concentration, and deep breathing above all if regularly practiced it promotes endurance, strength, calmness, flexibility, and well-being in an individual.

SYNC Club of H.R College organized a relaxing Self-Care Yoga workshop with instructor Mr. Allan Ray Enriquez, a yoga teacher under Yoga Alliance.

MEDITATIVE ART WORKSHOP

Stress is toxic, and doodling can help mitigate its negative effects. The rhythmic and repetitive motion of drawing elicits what Harvard cardiologist Herbert Benson identified as the relaxation response. By synchronizing the hand and eye—thereby allowing the coordination of body and mind—doodling can become a calming and meditative experience.

The workshop began with Ms. Molshree Jain, Festival director of Asia's only “Female Street Art Festival”, she's a part of the Manager Community of 1000+ multidisciplinary artists. She explained how doodling can be helpful for self-therapy through self-expression, help overcome negative emotions and aid our decision-making abilities.

STICK YOGA WORKSHOP

SYNC club of H.R College organized a relaxing Stick Yoga workshop with our Instructor Ms. Aparna Agnihotri. She is a yoga Instructor and has experience of 14+ years.

The workshop began with stretches and warmups for the arms and legs. Ms. Aparna instructed everyone to take their prop stick and use them for stretches and yoga poses including Ardha Kati chakrasana, lunges, uttanasana, jumping twists, and side stretches. She ended the session with pranayama breathing.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION WITH NON-TEACHING STAFF

January 25, 2022

On the 73rd Republic Day, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had asked students to perform 'Surya Namaskar.' The UGC had requested higher education institutions across the country to participate in this mass program, which is part of the central government's 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. SYNC club of H.R. College contributed to the same by organizing a session on Surya Namaskar along with some fun activities for the Non-teaching Staff of our College. Sun Salutations are a great way to energize the body first thing in the morning. It is easy to do, and with modifications, it is available to everyone!

There were about 15 Non-teaching Staff members and 25 Sync members in the session. It began with our SYNC Graphics Director - Bhargavi Visave instructing all the participants to do Sitting Surya Namaskar according to their capacity. It was followed by a series of fun trivia questions and a dance performance by our SYNC member Esha Bafna on republic day.

MUSIC THERAPY SESSION

February 3, 2022

The session began with Mr. Roshan asking everyone to close their eyes for 6.5 minutes while he played some music. Both students and teachers were asked to share their thoughts on the music played.

He also emphasized the importance of self-love, instructing the audience to hug themselves and say I love you to themselves

ELYSIUM: PROMOTING FITNESS WITH A COMPETITIVE TWIST

March 15 to 17, 2022

ELYSIUM organized a fitness fest this year themed around the idea of a battle. Consisting of various sessions, workshops, competitions, and much more; Elysium focused on not just fitness but also provided a platform for people to showcase their talents and skills alongside competing and enjoying various activities organized in the fest. Participants included clubs from HR College as well as various representatives of different colleges all over Mumbai. Elysium had eight events and three workshops. Contingents from various colleges and clubs participated with great enthusiasm, trying to win the different events.

ELYSIUM FITNESS FEST

March 5, 6 & 8, 2021

SYNC of H.R. College conducted the fifth edition of its flagship fest ELYSIUM. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the fest was conducted on virtual platforms with equal enthusiasm.

Main events held were:

1. Too Fit To Quit
March 5 & 6, 2021

This event was the ultimate test of the participants' strength, flexibility and their overall personality. Qualifying participants who completed the maximum number of tasks in the semi-final round got a chance to interact with the esteemed judges Mr. Pranit Shilimkar and Ms. Anaheez Patel, for the final round. This round consisted of some fun and interesting questions along with few entertaining tasks.

2. Fitness Trivia
March 5 & 6, 2021

Fitness Trivia was an event to test the knowledge and skills of a fitness enthusiast on topics such as sports, nutrition, dance, yoga, exercise and much more. The elimination round was a classic fitness quiz.

The finale for the Fitness Trivia was a unique version of the famous board game Monopoly with fitness elements incorporated in it. Fitness Trivia and Fitness Monopoly were a feast for all fitness freaks to come together and showcase their skills and knowledge.

3. The Fitness Quest
March 5, 2021

The Fitness Quest was an online scavenger hunt on various fitness topics. Participants were tested on how smart and prompt they could be while solving the brain-teasers given to them. This was followed by a fitness related Crossword.

4. Mr. & Ms. Elysium
March 6, 2021

Mr. and Ms. Elysium, the flagship event of ELYSIUM 2021 is a platform for the most competitive students. The event focused on assessing the personality, intelligence, talent and ability of the contestants to be wise and witty on various subjects. The elimination round was “Break the Stereotype” where participants created a video of themselves talking/enacting a scene where they would break a certain stereotype.

Top 6 participants (3 male and 3 female) were then asked tricky questions by our judges on various topics.

1. Danceout with Burzin
March 5, 2021

Danceout Workout was an energy boost to kickstart the fest ELYSIUM. The fitness instructor Mr. Burzin Engineer conducted the workout with energetic dance moves and the latest upbeat songs. The workout was followed by a cool-down routine to stretch out the muscles. All participants enjoyed the boost of energy at the morning workout session.

2. Ballet with Jezreen
March 8, 2021

The unique ballet workshop was conducted by Ms. Jezreen Mody, a ballet dancer. She taught the basics of ballet while paying attention to one's posture and also the techniques of the dance form. It was indeed a soothing workshop with deep stretches and calming music. All participants were awestruck by the instructor's grace and flexible moves.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA

To embrace and to practice the same ideology of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SYNC Club of HR College with its entire faculty members and the students celebrated IDY 2019. A certified instructor Mr. Sumit Chadha from Kaivalyadham - Yoga institute was present to guide and instruct everyone.

ICE BREAKER ZUMBA SESSION
July 23, 2019

The Ice Breaker Zumba Session was attended by students from all the unaided courses. This session helped the students to open up with their batch mates outside the walls of their classroom. This session was conducted by Zin Payal and her team.

SOCIAL JIVE
August 20, 2019

SYNC organized the Social Jive events for students of all courses. This lovely dance form mingled with the rhythm of upbeat songs kept people on their toes. The session was conducted by the team of 567 Dance.

SELF RETREAT YOGA SESSION
September 19, 2019

SYNC organized a pre exam yoga session for all the club members for de-stressing the exam stress. The session was conducted at Kaivalyadham, under the guidance of the vibrant founder Anvita Dixit.

GARBA SESSION
October 10, 2019

Sync organised a fun filled Garba Session which was attended by students of all courses wearing traditional clothes to celebrate the festival of Navratri. International Garba Instructors Bhavesh Sawant and Shubham Rane came in for this session.

KAIVALYADHAM COMMON YOGA PROTOCOL COURSE

Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute teaches and follows the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali, the yogic seer of the eighth century. In their campus is a Yoga college, a health centre, asana halls, ayurveda and naturopathy facilities, and philosophical and scientific research departments. They conducted a special 30 hour intensive yoga course for the SYNC HR students to be Certified as an "Yoga Intern".

REPRESENTED H.R. COLLEGE AT VARIOUS YOGA PROGRAMMES

SYNC students went on to represent HR College, the Yoga competition held at RD National College, Bandra and at the Yoga meet held at the Mumbai University Grounds. The certified yoga interns also conducted the same yoga course for the students of HR college, as a 5 day workshop and also provided certificates for it.

ORGANISED CHRISTMAS PARTY AT SIND MODEL HIGH SCHOOL,GRANT ROAD

SYNC organised a CHRISTMAS PARTY for the students of Sindh Model High School, Grant Road, Mumbai. We played several games, sang Christmas Carols, served them snacks and gave them their Christmas gifts. It was indeed a special moment for us to see kids happy and having fun during the event.

TEACHING YOGA AT MPDT SCHOOL, GRANT ROAD

SYNC Students conducted a session where they taught yoga to middle school students and helped in spreading awareness about the benefits of doing Yoga daily. This session was greatly enjoyed by all the students.

ELYSIUM –THE FITNESS EXTRAVAGANZA
February 14 & 15, 2020

Elysium 2020 was the fourth edition of the fitness & wellness college fest, abundant with zestful sessions and events. Students from various colleges across Mumbai took part in dynamic workout sessions like Bollywood Yoga, Social Jive, Dance-out Workout, Zumba, Hip Hop and Freestyle Bollywood.
