THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO MBA

July 28, 2023         Attendees: 21

The Planning Forum Club of H.R. College conducted a webinar on The Ultimate guide to MBA in collaboration with IMS to provide information to the MBA aspirants. The speaker Mr. Prasad Sawant an alumnus of JBIMS and MBA from IIM- Ahmedabad shared many ideas on preparation for CAT exams. Mr. Prasad explained the admission process and the requirement of entrance exams to the top B-schools. The webinar ended with an interactive Q&A and a formal vote of thanks.

THE 57TH A.D. SHROFF MEMORIAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION

OCTOBER 31, 2023         Attendees: 21

The A.D. Shroff Memorial Competition has been conducted since 1965 in memory of the late Mr. A.D. Shroff with the object of encouraging college students to think and speak on economic and related subjects, besides enabling them to demonstrate their speaking abilities. The competition was open to all students in degree college from various courses. Each participant was allowed to speak for 5 minutes. The topics included;

A. IS THE INDIAN RUPEE READY TO EMERGE AS A GLOBAL RESERVE CURRENCY AND WHAT STEPS SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT TAKE TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL?;

B. IS THE INDIAN ECONOMY ON TRACK TO BECOMING A $5 TRILLION ECONOMY 2025?;

C. IS UNEMPLOYABILITY A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN UNEMPLOYMENT? RECENT STEPS TO SKILL INDIA.

The panel of judges included Dr. Geeta Nair, Dr. Jaya Manglani, and Ms. Mamta Shukla. The winners were given certificates by the Judges. The winners were awarded prize money as well. The event ended with a vote of thanks to the Forum of Free Enterprise and our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani for her support and motivation.

THE 57TH A.D. SHROFF MEMORIAL LECTURE

December 14, 2023         Attendees: 9

The A.D. Shroff Memorial Competition has been conducted since 1965 in the memory of the late Mr. A.D. Shroff with the object of encouraging college students to think and speak on economic and related subjects, besides enabling them to demonstrate their speaking abilities. The lecture was open to all students in degree college from various courses. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Harish Bhat, Chairman, Tata Coffee & Brand Custodian. Mr. Harish Bhat gives us a lot of motivation as well as information about JRD Tata and his teachings that the young generations can be like him. The event ended with a vote of thanks from Forum of free enterprise and Mr. Harish Bhat and we thank our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani and our Planning Forum In charge Dr. Jaya Manglani for support and motivation.

ACTIVITIES 2022-2023

The Planning Forum played a crucial role in organizing the One-Day International Multidisciplinary Conference "India @100: Vision 40 Trillion-Dollar Economy" by creating necessary Google forms, integrating information for the publisher and participants, and developing feedback forms and lists. Additionally, the forum assisted in IQAC work, including data entry, classification, and tabulation, under the guidance of Dr. Jaya Manglani.

A.D. SHROFF ELOCUTION COMPETITION
November 7, 2022         Participants: 10

The A.D. Shroff Memorial Competition, which has been conducted since 1965 in memory of the late Mr. A.D. Shroff, aims to encourage college students to think and speak on economic and related subjects, while also showcasing their speaking abilities.

The competition was open to students from various courses, and each participant was allowed to speak for 5 minutes. The topics covered were:

  • Managing the Economy during a Pandemic
  • Making India a $5 Trillion Economy by 2027 (80 Years of Independence)
  • The Changing Role of International Finance in Developing Economies
  • The Menace of Increasing Cyber Crimes and Solutions (the way forward)

The panel of judges included Dr. Madhu Kelkar, Dr. Jaya Manglani, and Ms. Bhakti Mulchandani. Certificates were awarded to the winners by Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, along with cash prizes received from the Forum of Free Enterprise.

ACTIVITIES 2021-2022

YOUTUBE FOR YOU

December 23, 2021 Participants: 35-40

Speaker Mr. Rahul S Mohile, who is the Assistant Professor of Accountancy at N.B. Mehta College, Bordi, and a verified educator on Unacademy.

He also has a YouTube channel wherein he educates students in the domain of accountancy. He introduced YouTube as a platform to the students and the importance of the same in our daily lives. He then went on to explain the intricacies of curating videos on the platform, how to start an impactful channel, and the revenue streams as well. He made the attendees understand the significance of grasping the viewers' attention and increasing watch time. He also told everyone about his own YouTube journey.

The webinar then focused on the analysis of the videos across parameters like traffic source, geography, viewer age, gender, subscription status, etc. He gave examples of topics on which the students could make videos. The videos also act as a confidence booster.

ORGANIZING Ph.D. COURSEWORK PROGRAM

January 17-28, 2022

Dr. Jaya Manglani was the Course-coordinator for Ph.D. Coursework Program, “Research Ethics and Academic writing”. The Planning Forum helped in organizing the program by creating various google forms required and integrating the information recorded by various attendees. They also worked in the feedback process by creating feedback forms, feedback analysis, and formulating lists.

IQAC

The Planning Forum assisted in the IQAC work mainly Data Entry, Classification, Tabulation of Data, and analysis to achieve meaningful results required under the guidance of the teacher-in-charge Dr. Jaya Manglani.

ELOCUTION COMPETITION

The Planning Forum of H.R College of Commerce & Economics conducted the 56th A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition in association with the Forum of Free Enterprise. This competition has been conducted since 1965 in memory of the late Mr. A.D. Shroff with the object of encouraging college students to think and speak on economics and related subjects, besides enabling them to demonstrate their speaking abilities.

ACTIVITIES 2020-2021

ROAD TO MBA
September 22, 2020

Tips to crack admits in Harvard, INSEAD, IIMs, LBS and other top B-Schools talk was open to all students from various courses of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. The speaker Mr. Kamlesh Sajnani, CEO of IMS Learning Resources, gave a thorough guidance to students about different options in careers. He spoke of the IMS preschool and a "2+2 MBA course" at Harvard Business School. Mr. Sajnani briefed the students and answered entertained pertinent questions with links and references shared, to help students start their journey in the corporate world.

WEBINAR IN COLLABORATION WITH T.I.M.E.
October 22, 2020

The webinar was attended by students from across all the streams right from B.Com to BMM. The event commenced with the welcome and introduction of the phenomenal speaker for the event, Mr. Gurdeep Gill, who is an extremely experienced individual and has combined corporate and teaching experience of more than 25 years. He walked the students through the entire process, right from preparing for the CAT to choosing an institute that fits the specialization that one wants to pursue. It was a detailed session with Mr. Gill with respect to a Master's in Business Administration.

ALUMNI INTERACTIONS

The students had a chance to interact with HR College alumnus Miss Akshara Shetty, who is currently pursuing an MBA from the prestigious IIM Calcutta. Being a CA student, she resonated with the thoughts of a significant portion of the audience and gave them an insight on her journey from CA to MBA. She also highlighted how H.R. College played an instrumental role in her life.

A video message from another alumnus was played in the meeting, who is a student of IIM Ahmedabad and graduated from HR College in the year 2016, helped the students with the requisites required for doing an MBA.

The question answer round opened up an engaging conversation between the students and the speaker. Everyone applauded explanations on how every institute is different and how one has to keep improving themselves irrespective of the institute they get into. He ended his talk with a motivating quote from his favourite writer, Henry Wordsworth Longfellow.

ACTIVITIES 2019-2020

55th A.D. Shroff Elocution Competition:

The 55th A.D. Shroff Memorial competition was held on August 28, 2019, for Degree College students. Participants had to speak on any one of the topics provided. Each participant was allowed to speak for 5 minutes. The elocution topics were as follows:

  1. Quest Towards Inclusive Growth in India
  2. Health for All: Reforming National Health Policy
  3. Role of a Model Citizen in Indian Democracy

The panel of judges included Dr. Paromita Chakrabarti, Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee and Dr. Jaya Manglani. The first position went to Mr. Adith Herga, the first runner up was Ms Nistha Jadav, while the second runner up was Ms Shagun Lalwani. The winners were given certificates by the I/C Principal Mr. Parag Thakkar.

Debate Competition

The debate competition was held on August 28, 2019. The topic of the competition was “Autonomy Vs. Integration the big J&K debate: Article 370 and 35A”. Each participant was given a time of 3 minutes. The trophies and certificates were given to the winner by Vice-Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani.
