International Programmes Committee – IPC

Vision and Mission

The International Programs Committee has been instrumental in creating an enabling environment for international exposure to build leaders of tomorrow. It attempts to conduct seminars, interact with consulates, provide informed choices to pursue higher education and work towards student exchange programs, summer schools, faculty exchange programs, scholarships, and foreign language courses.

What sets the IPC committee apart is that it gives the students a hands-on experience of internationalization at H.R. College. The students explore their unidentified potentials, overcome their weaknesses, and transform them into their strengths. With each program, IPC helps the students to expand their knowledge and experience and hones their skills with the opportunity to lead several programs.

IPC helps prepare the students for a world that is on the pathway to becoming a global village. It conveys a feeling of being a Global Citizen rather than just a local one.

Objectives
  • Provide international exposure to the students and faculty through various focused programs
  • To ensure that students are able to reach out to institutions of higher learning in varied nations of choice
  • To help host seminars, boot camps, consulate sessions,language sessions, training sessions, masterclass and summer schools for the benefit of all
  • To help provide scholarships wherever possible
  • To engage in discussions with international institutions for possible partnerships

The International Programs Committee organizes various student and faculty exchanges, scholarships, summer sessions, and other opportunities for internationalization, in collaboration with partner institutions across the globe. The IPC has a team of dedicated student ambassadors who work, plan and participate in the internationalization process. The Committee works toward a holistic international exposure for the students of the college in several ways.

  • INTERNATIONAL DELEGATION VISITS

H.R. College has welcomed several international faculty delegations, student delegations, exchange program participants, and delegations of businesspersons. Some of the notable ones have been, the University of Cincinnati, USA, International Youth Exchange Program, Germany, Kennesaw State University, USA, and Institute of Strategic Leadership, Japan.

  • SUMMER SCHOOLS

Students from H.R. College take up summer programs at the following institutions such as - Kedge Business School, France; London School of Economics, UK, among others.

  • PARTNER INSTITUTIONS

We have focused on faculty discussions with reputed universities and spreading awareness of higher studies options in various schools such as Kedge Business School; Deakin University, Australia; SP Jain Global School of Management; University of Cincinnati, USA; EDHEC Business School, France; London School of Economics, UK; Normandie Business School; Unitalia, to name a few.

  • COLLABORATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS

The College prides itself in international collaborations with all stakeholders through MOUs with our partner institutions, connecting with our international alumni, and various Masterclass that are conducted with international faculty. Faculty exchanges will be an opportunity to learn from international experts.

  • LANGUAGE CLASSES

H.R. College conducts language classes for the students taught by qualified faculty. The current courses are in Spanish and German.

  • STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The college has secured several opportunities for meritorious students to experience alternate learning styles in different cultures and broaden the horizons of their knowledge. Some of the preferred ones are Kedge Business School's Scholarship; Asia Pacific University Japan's Scholarship; Betty and Donald Keating Scholarship to St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, UK; Advance Student Admission Program to the SP Jain Institute for Management and Research, Dubai, UAE; and McDonald Conference for Leaders of Character at the United States Military Academy, WestPoint, USA.

NETWORKING SESSION BY THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES COMMITTEE

May 7, 2023

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty Director, attended a college fair that gives students an opportunity to meet the representatives of business schools and to get their queries answered.

The students interacted with many universities including Henley Business School, The University of Birmingham, Queen’s University Belfast, University College of Birmingham, The University of Exeter, City University of London, The University of Miami’s Herbert Business School and The University of North Texas.

The representatives discussed the various master’s programmes offered by their institution, the applications required to apply to their universities, and the pricing schedules for those programmes. The Networking Session was participatory and ended on an informative note.

DR. MARTIN RAHE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

July 19, 2023

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty Director, introduced the students to Dr. Martin Rahe Scholarship Programme. It aims to help students finance their education abroad and gain access to quality training. This scholarship was offered by the EADA Business School with the objective to promote the talent of exceptional women and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

After successful rounds of interviews and application processes, Khushnaaz. N. Kerawala, a third-year student of Management studies was chosen for a full scholarship for the International Masters in Management Programme, 2023-2024. We wish her all the best in all her future endeavours.

WEBINAR ON TOEFL AND GRE

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty Director, organized a webinar on ‘Everything you need to know about TOEFL and GRE’ in collaboration with Educational Testing Service (ETS) India.

The webinar commenced with a concise introduction about our guest speaker Ms. Bhagyashree Vaswani, Business Development Manager- Gujarat Region, ETS. Ms. Vaswani engaged the participants in a detailed discussion involving the importance of GRE and TOEFL examinations, the structure and format of these tests, the scoring system and the study resources and materials available. The session concluded with a Q&A round.

SEMINAR ON MBA VS MASTERS

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College welcomed Ms. Amrita Rathi, Ms. Neha Iyengar, Ms. Meena Gandhi and Ms. Ishita Jain from Oncourse, a market leader in personalized mentoring, for a session on ‘Navigating the road ahead: MBA vs Master’s.

The session commenced with the introduction of the speakers. Ms. Ishita Jain elaborated on the Master’s programmes and career outcomes while Ms. Neha Iyengar shed light on the MBA curriculum, its types and key differences between MBA and Master’s programme. It was followed by an insightful discussion on the application process to foreign universities, work visas, scholarships and the required tests. The session was interactive and concluded with a Q&A round.

SEMINAR WITH USIEF (UNITED STATES INDIAN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION)

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College welcomed Ms. Deborah from USIEF to shed light on MBA/Masters in the United States. Ms. Deborah shed light on the processes of securing admission into a MBA or Master's course in the United States, which included investigating and shortlisting universities and deciding on the financial requirements and possibilities of scholarships. It was followed by an intelligent conversation regarding the requirements for applying to American universities, work visas, scholarships, and exam requirements. The session was interactive and concluded with a Q&A round.

SEMINAR ON SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUMMER SCHOOLS

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College conducted a seminar on ‘Seize the Summer: Insight on Scholarships and Summer Schools.’

The session commenced with the introduction of speaker- Ms. Rhea Shivan and Mr. Sharang Dhaimade followed by a discussion on the various scholarships available to students of H.R. College across various countries. Ms. Rhea Shivan shed light on the programmes offered by EM Normandie Business School, France, eligibility criteria, the admission process, and the summer school programmes offered. Mr. Sharang Dhaimade, the founder of SEED Global Education made a brief appearance and informed about scholarships offered by them. The session concluded with a Q&A and a formal vote of thanks.

SEMINAR WITH IMFS (INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT & FOREIGN STUDIES)

August 25, 2023         Attendees: 50

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College welcomed Ms. Reshma Bokaria and Mr. K.P Singh from I.M.F.S- Churchgate, a leading Institute that provides coaching of exams including GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, etc.

The session commenced with a short introduction about I.M.F.S after which Ms. Reshma explained the benefits of studying abroad and listed the essentials of the application process. This was followed by Mr. K.P Singh discussed the examination processes for getting into specific universities. It was noted that the GRE, GMAT and IELTS are widely accepted examinations. The session was interactive and concluded with a Q&A round.

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College in association with the Bcom Committee organized a webinar on ‘Exciting Global Journey: Study Abroad with IELTS’. The session commenced with the introduction of the speaker, Mr. Nazir Syed. The speaker talked about the importance of IELTS, its contents, and countries that accept IELTS scores. He elaborated on the duration of preparation, score validation, and registration. The session concluded with a Q&A round.

A SESSION WITH KINGS COLLEGE LONDON

August 28, 2023         Attendees: 52

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College conducted a webinar with Kings College.

The session commenced with the introduction of the speaker- Ms. Dolan M. It was followed by a discussion on the various postgraduate courses provided by Kings College. Ms. Dolan shed light on eligibility criteria, the admission process, and summer school programmes, etc. The speaker elaborated on the areas of support and career opportunities provided by King's College, London. The session was followed by a brief idea about the statement of purpose, fee structure, and living expenses. The session concluded with a question-and-answer round.

STUDY IN FRANCE

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College organized a webinar on ‘Discover Studying in France’. The session commenced with introducing the speaker, Ms. Vanisha Hemrajani, the Campus France manager in Mumbai. The webinar started with Ms. Hemrajani busting the myths regarding studying in France. She then spoke about the procedure for student and work visas. She then proceeded to discuss the fee structure and scholarship opportunities. This was followed by information regarding part-time jobs and the duration of studying in France. The session was very interactive and ended with a question-and-answer round.

Conference with EDHEC Business School

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge, along with our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani welcomed The Dean of EDHEC Richard Perrin, Sophie Simard and Nilesh Gaikwad from EDHEC Business School, France. The meeting commenced with a discussion on various scholarships offered by EDHEC Business School. Ms. Sophie Simard briefed about the semi-aided scholarships. Furthermore, a suggestion was put forth by our respected Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani regarding a summer institutional visit. Lastly, the delegates discussed the collaboration of Master classes in order to aid the students with quality education on several important topics.

Insightful Interaction with International Delegates

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge, along with our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani welcomed a team of international delegates for an insightful interactive session. The esteemed team of delegates consisted of Mr. Shreyas Pardesi from Carey Business School, Mr. Brian Albertsen from Stuart School of Illinois Institute of Technology, Mr. Alexander Englander from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Ms. Lisa Katherine Henry from the University of Tampa, Mr. Thomas Hill from Rutgers Business School and Mr. Krutarth Hendre from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The session commenced with an active interaction between the students and the panelists, bridging the gap between different perspectives on education. It was followed by a discussion on the role of culture in education, wherein the delegates put forth their opinions. The various aspects of selecting the right university, drafting a perfect C.V., and the right use of technology for academic and professional success were discussed in depth.

American University of Washington DC Visit

October 20, 2023         Attendees: 10

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge, along with our respected Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, welcomed Ms. Tashina Giraud, International Director and Mr. Jeff Wang, the Provost from the American University of Washington DC. The meeting commenced with a discussion on conducting a combined masterclass in order to benefit the students from both universities. Further, the delegates offered insights on the summer programs and the possibility of conducting a summer institutional visit. Ms. Tashina Giraud briefed about the fully aided scholarships they offered and the criteria to be fulfilled. Lastly, our faculty in charge extended an invitation to the delegates to be a part of the college fair organized by the International Programmes Committee. The discussion ended on a positive note.

Session with Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge, welcomed Ms. Ishana Malkani and Mr. Deeptanshu from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan for an interactive session. The session commenced with Ms. Ishana Malkani providing insights about the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. Furthermore, she conveyed the facts and details of the Japanese education system, the differences in the academic experience and culture. Lastly, she briefed about the scholarships and student exchange programs offered by them, the application process and the required tests.

University of Oxford Visit

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College welcomed Mr. Giles Keating and Ms. Naomi Freud, delegates from The University of Oxford. The meeting commenced with a discussion on The Betty and Donald Keating Scholarship offered by the University of Oxford. Ideas regarding collaboration between the two universities was discussed, along with the possibility of conducting a masterclass for the benefit of students from both universities. The meeting ended with a discussion on institutional cooperation.

Seminar on Climate & Finance

December 7, 2023         Attendees: 25

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College, welcomed Professor Simone Varatto, Programme Co-Director of MSc Finance and Financial Technology (FinTech), Programme Co-Director of MSc Climate Change, Sustainable Business and Green Finance, Co-lead of the Climate and Finance Research Cluster from Henley Business School, Greenland. The session started with Professor Simone navigating climate-conscious finance. This was followed by his explanation of sustainability and finance intersections for job opportunities. Later, discussions took place on how the faculty could add the topics discussed to the syllabus. The session concluded with a question-answer round where all the queries were answered. A token of thanks was presented and the session ended on a positive note.

University of Cincinnati

December 11, 2023         Attendees: 36

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College warmly welcomed students and the faculty in charge, Dr. Asawari Deshmukh and Mr. Robert Rokey from the University of Cincinnati. The day commenced with a traditional welcoming of the esteemed guests and a round of introductions. A lively Garba session was held by Ms. Nidhi Jimulia who guided the students through their steps. Post the dance session, lunch was served after which students from both universities bonded over an interactive round of games and a mehendi session. The day ended with a formal vote of thanks.

Spanish Language Class

January 15th, 2024         Attendees: 34

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge organized a 30hrs Spanish Language course for the students. This online course was a resounding success, with a substantial number of students attending it. The class began on 15th January held on every Monday, Friday and Sunday of the week from 8pm to 9pm. It concluded on 31st March, 2024 running for a total of 11 weeks. The course was available at a price of Rs.1000 per student. The faculty for the program was Mrs. Ananga Manjari, a language expert with a specialization in Spanish. This online class was specifically designed to focus on the grammar of the language, which is often considered one of the most challenging aspects of learning.

Masterclass on Entrepreneurship and Strategy

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge welcomed Mr. Martin Ihrig, Mr. Larry Fillian, Mr. Tim Valentine and Ms. Nandita Atal from New York University. The session commenced with a concise explanation of customer psychology and its crucial impact on any business. Further, Mr. Martin facilitated a brainstorming session, encouraging students to put forth their innovative thoughts and ideas. This was followed by an informative discussion on the diverse Master's degree programs offered by New York University, the eligibility criteria for the same and potential career opportunities. A token of thanks was presented and the session ended on a positive note.

Panel Discussion on Enhancing Study Abroad Ecosystem

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College actively engaged in a panel discussion centered on enhancing the study abroad ecosystem. The discussion took place at Sofitel Mumbai, BKC. Distinguished delegates and esteemed professors from renowned universities convened as participants in the panel. The primary aim of this discussion was to cultivate collaboration between students and foreign universities, seeking to facilitate the necessary financial support for students. Additionally, the panel explored avenues to enhance the overall experience of students pursuing education abroad, identifying measures that could be implemented within our country. Delving into the intricacies of common challenges encountered during the international application process, the panel provided a constructive platform for addressing these concerns. The dialogue concluded on an optimistic note, highlighting the potential for positive transformation in the realm of overseas education.

UNIFAIR 2024.

January 23 - 24, 2024         Attendees: 161

The International Programmes Committee of H. R. College of Commerce & Economics along with Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty in charge, IPC organized the College Fair from the 23rd to the 24th of January 2024. Unifair facilitates access to information about studying overseas by providing information about admissions, entrance exams, fees, and other topics. The representatives from the world’s finest universities manned their tables to answer questions and queries of the students.

Seminar on ‘Hot Topics in Economics in Historical Perspective’

February 9, 2024         Attendees: 38

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge welcomed Dr. Daniela Tavasci, PGT Deputy Director, Queen Mary University, London for an insightful session on ‘Hot Topics in Economics in Historical Perspective’. The session commenced with the speaker providing a brief overview of the economic theories and their relevance in today’s time. She further guided the students on techniques aimed at enhancing their skills. This was followed by a discussion on the various courses offered by Queen Mary University, delving deeper into the eligibility criteria for the same and the potential career opportunities.

A session On Multi-Cultural Marketing

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge, collaborated with Ms. Bibiana Camba, Director of International Development, from EADA Business School and Ms. Leena Upadhaya, the Regional Director of EADA Business School. The session commenced with the introduction of the speaker, Ms. Bibiana Camba. The speaker then spoke about the importance of marketing a business and gave a few examples of the successful marketing strategies used by brands like Coca-Cola and Mastercard to justify the same. This was followed by an introduction to multicultural marketing. She then discussed the opportunities and courses available in this field and elaborated on the scholarships suitable for the students. Several questions were put forth by the students. The questions were then answered by the speaker one by one. The session concluded on an enthusiastic and positive note. An MOU was signed between H.R College and EADA Business School.

An M.O.U with Assumption University

February 20th, 2024         Attendees 10

An impactful moment unfolded at H.R College of Commerce & Economics as an MOU signing ceremony between HR College of Commerce and Economics and Assumption University took place. The event commenced with introductions, featuring the esteemed President of Assumption University, Greg Weiner, Vice President, Verayuth Boonpram, and other delegates from the university. The Principal of H.R College of Commerce & Economics, Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Vice Principals, Dr. Rani Tyagi and Dr. Jasbir Kaur Sodi, teacher-in-charge Chandani Bhattacharjee, and Professor Jehangir Bharucha were also present. The session gained depth with an enlightening video about Assumption University, an introductory video of H.R College of Commerce & Economics was also played. The climax arrived as the MOU was officially signed, marking the beginning of a promising collaboration.

A Masterclass with Kings College, London

February 21St, 2024         Attendees: 14

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty in charge welcomed Dr. Kamini Gupta, a lecturer in International Business, and Professor Stephen Bach, the Executive Dean of King’s Business School for an Informative Masterclass on the topic ‘Entrepreneurial Opportunities and Dealing with Uncertainty’. The masterclass commenced with Professor Stephen giving an introduction about himself and the courses that King’s Business School offers. The speaker explained to the students the way in which entrepreneurs are different from mere businessmen. This was followed by a discussion about uncertainties revolving around a business and ways to deal with the same. The session concluded with the Principal of H.R College of Commerce & Economics, Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, giving a visit and a question-and-answer round.

Social Initiative at Salaam Baalak Trust

March 9th, 2024         Attendees: 30

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College, undertook a Social Initiative at the Salaam Baalak Trust in Mumbai. The initiative aimed at bringing joy to the lives of unprivileged children. The team planned a day filled with games like passing the parcel, etc. and some delightful celebrations. Its prime objective was to interact with children and create a positive environment. In addition to the games, the committee introduced the children to the art of origami. Moreover, to add creativity, the team took the colored handprints of children on a board. The day was marked as a special occasion, whereby the team celebrated by cutting a cake and distributing some snacks, gifts. This step taken showcased the dedication of the committee to make a positive impact on the lives of the children. The team donated a sum of the amount to the Trust for the overall welfare of the children to make a small difference in society from their end. The event ended on an enthusiastic yet positive note.

Webinar on Insights of TOEFL and GRE

The International Programmes Committee of H.R College of Commerce & Economics and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, faculty-in-charge welcomed Ms. Sarika Balchandani, the Senior Manager at ETS India for an insightful session on TOEFL and GRE.The webinar commenced with the speaker providing a brief of the TOEFL examination. She further elaborated on the differences between TOEFL and IELTS, highlighting the benefits of TOEFL. She provided in-depth details of the application process for both, the TOEFL and GREs, their advantages, and the modes of giving the examination. The session concluded with a question and answer round.

UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL VISIT

July 25, 2022         Attendees: 50

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College welcomed and hosted the Delegates from the University of Bristol, one of the top 10 colleges in the United Kingdom. Prof. Jahir Islam, Lecturer, School of Economics and International Director conducted a Masterclass on ‘Why Economic Development and not Growth?’ The staff and students of the college attended the session.

The delegation comprising, Ms. Natasha Kerven, School International Officer, Ms. Sara Ashman, International Office, and Mr. Devesh Anand, Country Manager interacted with the Vice Principals, Dr. Jasbir Sodhi, Dr. Rani Tyagi and Dr. Navin Punjabi, Dr. Geeta Nair, Professor and Head of Economics Department, Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, Director International Initiatives and the students of the International Programs Committee. The meeting was positive and future course of action has been discussed with the delegates.

NEW ERA OF EDUCATION: A HOLISTIC INSIGHT INTO HSNCU

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics hosted career counselors with an aim to create awareness about HSNC University. The counselors were addressed with a warm welcome. The seminar started with the attendees gaining an insightful introduction to HSNC University and the colleges affiliated with it. Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani addressed the respective counselors and provided information and insight into the new university emphasizing the importance of holistic and overall personality development of students. The seminar concluded on a positive note with meaningful discussions about the future course of action.

PREP DAYS

August 17-18, 2022         Attendees: 177

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics hosted several enlightening webinars with the aim of familiarising the students with an overview of entrance tests, requirements, and strategies for admission to foreign universities.

Ms. Anuradha Jejani, Ms. Sarika Balchandani, Mr. Ankit from IDP Education, and Mr. Nilesh Gaikwad were our esteemed speakers for the sessions. The event commenced with a concise introduction of the speakers.

Prep days provided students a practical overview and shed light on the testing experience and things to remember while submitting statement of purpose and test scores. Each session concluded with a Q&A round that solved all the doubts and queries from the attendees. Prep Days ended on a warm note, with the speakers expressing interest in assisting the students.

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AND SCHOLARSHIP’S IN FRANCE-CAMPUS FRANCE

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College welcomed Aayushi Nagpal and Amruta Datar from Campus France, as speakers for a session to guide the students on Educational Opportunities and Scholarship’s in France.

The session commenced with the introduction of the speakers. Ms. Datar elaborated on what Campus France is and the help they offer, Ms. Nagpal then threw some light on the benefits of studying in French Universities.

She also elucidated what France is known for, why to choose France for further studies, internship opportunities, tuition Fees and lastly the visa application for same. The session was interactive and was concluded with a Q&A round.

H.R. COLLEGE × KING’S COLLEGE, LONDON

September 20, 2022         Attendees: 15

The International Programmes Committee is pleased to share that we hosted Ms. Dolan Mitra from King’s College, London with us today. The session was attended by 15 students, our faculty in charge, Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee and our Principal, Dr. Pooja Ramchandani. Our students had the opportunity to interact with Ms. Dolan in a one-on-one basis and resolved all of their queries.

IPC welcomed representatives from SEED Global Academy to guide the students and resolve their doubts related to foreign education and what universities offer the students.

The session commenced with Mario Tabarini from Bocconi School of Management followed by Namita Thitta from IE School of Business, Elizabeth Blindauer from GW School of Business, Rahul Pariyani from The Schulich School of Business, Narottam Kishore from BITS School of Management, Srilakshmi Ramakrishnan from Martin J. Whitman School of Management introducing and informing about their respective universities.

The delegates spoke about the different courses that their universities offer, application process, fee structures for masters programme. Lastly, there was an informative lecture conducted by Ms. Geetanjali on GMAT exams. The session concluded with a rapid fire round in order to solve all the doubts and queries from the attendees. The networking with international delegates was participatory and highly engaging. The fair ended on a warm and informative note.

The session commenced with a brief introduction to the courses and opportunities offered by Langara College, its admission process, cultural exposure, etc. The speakers discussed the importance of effective communication in building trust, dealing with business difficulties, and networking. It was followed by a brief discussion on topics such as the significance of non-verbal communication and choosing the right method of communication.

UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty Director, IPC held a research work presentation meeting for the students of the University of Cincinnati and faculty in-charge Dr. Asawari Deshmukh and Professor Charles Appeadu.

The day commenced with welcoming the esteemed guests and students by applying some tilak as an Indian tradition along with jamming on a few musical performances, a yoga session, as well as a Bharatnatyam performance presented by the students of H.R. College accompanied with a speech by our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani.

These events were followed by an amusing game serving as a space for everyone to get well acquainted with each other and a Mehendi session. Hereafter, everyone had lunch together in an attempt to introduce Indian dishes to the students and guests from Cincinnati. Post lunch student presentations on topics delineated beforehand started. Research questions were posed and faculty assessed and guided the students in their work. The presentations ended with a formal vote of thanks.

This was an extremely insightful session where students were given an overview of how to apply for studies abroad, scholarship options, accommodation, visa, admission criteria, etc, and students got the chance to interact personally with the counsellors and were able to ask queries regarding their specific field/country to study in. College brochures and other informative details were shared with the students interested so they could further gain knowledge about the colleges.

GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE MASTERCLASS

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized a networking session followed by a master class on Global Supply Chain Resilience.

This session was an enriching one that helped enhance the student’s knowledge of the functioning of a supply chain in all areas of a business or a firm, and the risk associated with it. The session commenced with the speaker Dr. Sumantra Sengupta, Dean of the Business and Management School giving a brief introduction of himself and his background. He went on to elaborate how he has been associated with the global supply chain through several companies he has worked with and explained the importance and relevance of the same. He also introduced the students to the unique concept of ‘job sharing’ practiced by Microsoft.

An MoU was signed between the City University of Seattle and H.R. College during the networking session with Mr. Antonio Esquedo Flores and Dr. Sumantra Sengupta.

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. THE BETTY AND DONALD KEATING SCHOLARSHIP

January 5, 2023

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College and Dr. Chandani Bhattacharjee, Faculty Director, introduced the students to Betty and Donald Keating Scholarship Fund to study as visiting students at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford.

The scholarship aimed at filling a gap by providing funds to a registered student for one academic term and to give each scholar the direct advantage of foreign education experience.

It helped in building relationships between Oxford University and a network of Indian universities as well as individuals. The process to acquire the scholarship started on July 18, 2022 and the results were declared on January 4, 2023. After successful rounds of interviews and application processes, Ms. Khushi Vazirani a second-year student of Management studies along with Ms. Saanchi Janyani a second-year student of Accounting and Finance was chosen to qualify for the prestigious scholarship.

It helps foster personal growth and teamwork through a competitive twist. The events Zipcode introduced this year provided participants with a platform to showcase their creativity, wit, and talent. The winning contingents were facilitated and the fourth edition of Zipcode ended on successful note.

MAESTRO WEEK
May 28 & 29, 2021
THE ART OF PROFILE BUILDING

The IPC of H.R. College organized a seminar on profile building as a part of the Maestro week.

The session commenced with a brief introduction about H.R. College, followed by an introduction of our guest speaker. Mrs. Upasana Kinra, College Advisor and Behavioural Counsellor, DPS International joined as the speaker of the event to guide the students in developing a structured profile.

Mrs. Kinra explained to the participants the different steps one has to complete to make an ideal profile, the importance of participation in co-curricular activities, taking up internships, and volunteering for welfare organisations in building a stronger profile. Further, she also discussed the importance and the value of Letters of Recommendation and how a student can receive one.

She satisfactorily answered all the doubts and queries from the participants. The seminar was exceptionally interactive and highly engaging. The practical tips and tricks shared during the seminar would benefit the participants in the future.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The IPC of H.R. College organized an event on scholarship opportunities, as a part of The Maestro Week.

The event commenced with an introduction of our guest speaker, followed by a brief introduction about H.R. College and its achievements. Dr. Karan Gupta, career guidance counselor, and study abroad consultant joined as the speaker of the event to enlighten the students about the scholarship opportunities available at various international universities.

Dr. Gupta made the students aware of the things that they require to obtain a scholarship, the types of scholarships available, and how a student's profile assists in procuring a scholarship.

With the help of a detailed presentation by Dr. Gupta, the students were able to get a broader perspective of opportunities that they could avail themselves of while applying to foreign universities. The session concluded with a Q&A, which cleared all the doubts, and queries that the students had.

JAPAN x INDIA CORPORATE LANDSCAPE

The International Programs Committee organized an online Webinar, which was a one-hour virtual dialogue titled “Unlocking the Secrets of Transnational Business success Exclusive Insights on the Corporate Landscape in India and Japan”.

This talk was delivered by Corporate Leader and JETRO INDO – Japan representative, Mr. Hidehito Jay Arake, Director, Japan Business, Udyen Jain and Associates. During the webinar, Mr. Jay Araki explained the differences between India and Japan by comparing the cultures of both countries and the kind of diversity in the countries.

Apart from this, various areas like the Metro system in India and Japan, and the market size of India and Japan were elaborated upon. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr. Jay Araki for helping the students understand the differences between the two countries, and he suggested ways to earn money from Japan using the ECB.

THE DISCOUNTED DEGREE - How to get an inexpensive International Degree
June 28, 2021

The International Programs Committee organised a webinar on how to get an inexpensive international degree in collaboration with IDP Education Pvt Ltd.

The event commenced with a brief introduction to the services and assistance that IDP provides to the students who intend to pursue their higher education in a foreign country. Followed by taking the students through the process of admission to graduation in a university in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or the United States of America by Ms. Hiral, Ms. Usma, and Ms. Vaishali from IDP Education.

They guided the students about the complete pre-admission process, the essentials of a profile, the reasons to choose a particular country to study, what universities in the mentioned countries offer to the students, and tips and tricks to achieve an inexpensive international degree.

With the help of well-detailed presentations by the speakers, the students were able to get a broader perspective of the opportunities that a foreign university has to offer, which would benefit them in making well-informed choices for their international future.

MASTERCLASS ON THE INDUSTRY LIFE CYCLE AND DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION

The International Programs Committee organized an online masterclass on the industry life cycle and disruptive innovation in collaboration with the University of Melbourne.

The event commenced with a concise introduction about the University of Melbourne and our guest speaker Dr. Erica Coslor, Program Director of Masters of Management (Marketing and HR) at the University of Melbourne.

Dr. Coslor educated the participants about the industry life cycle and explained the four stages- the introduction, growth, maturity, and decline stage involved in the evolution of an industry. Dr. Coslor also discussed disruptive innovation and how industries can apply it to evolve and innovate their products. With the help of a detailed and profound presentation, the participants were able to get a better and clearer understanding of the industry life cycle and disruptive innovation.

ZIPCODE 3.0
September 29, 30 & October 1, 2021

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organised the third edition of their Intra-collegiate fest, Zipcode 3.0. The event consisted of 3 Pre-Events and 6 Events and witnessed participation from more than 20 contingents from both Degree and Junior college clubs of H.R. College.

Zipcode is an individualistic international fest organized by the International Programmes Committee (IPC) of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics. The focal point of Zipcode is to create an immersive experience into the global environment and introduce them to the rich world of culture that awaits them. Our objective was to create a holistic and real experience of the international scenario for students, increase their knowledge about world affairs, and celebrate diversity. It encompassed international insight, exposure, and enlightenment through seminars, quizzes, case studies and mega management events. This simulation serves as an ideal way to pave personal growth as well as foster teamwork through a competitive twist.

STUDY OPTIONS IN FRENCH BUSINESS SCHOOLS

The IPC organized a webinar on the study options available in French Business Schools in collaboration with the EM Normandie Business School. Platform - Hybrid (In-Person & Zoom).

The event commenced with a concise introduction about EM Normandie Business School, Ranked 78th by World University Ranking and is double accredited by AACSB and EQUIS.

The guest speaker Ms. Laurence Mariet-Sanchez, Head of international recruitment at EM Normandie Business School spoke about the education in France and the similarities of courses offered in France and India, tie-ups with elite corporate partners, and professors from all over the globe, 80% of whom hold a Ph.D. She also guided the participants about the services for international students offered by Universities in France, and to have a clear understanding of EM Normandie Business School.

THE ECONOMICS OF BITCOIN
September 15, 2021

The IPC organized an online masterclass on the economics of bitcoin in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati.

The event commenced with a concise introduction about our guest speaker Dr. Micheal Jones, Director of Applied Economics at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Jones took the students through the history of bitcoin and explained in detail what bitcoin is, what are its advantages, how can one use it, and why is important to know about it.

Dr. Jones concluded the presentation by performing an actual trade and discussing various real-life examples. With the help of a detailed and well-articulated presentation, the participants were able to imbibe a better and clearer understanding of Bitcoin.

HOW MARKETING HAS TRANSFORMED DURING COVID
December 23, 2021

The IPC organized an online webinar in collaboration with the Great Lakes Institute of Management, which provided us with a detailed explanation and an excellent presentation on how and why marketing functions have transformed during the pandemic.

The session got our attention with the minute and detailed history of how Netflix has emerged and how it markets itself. The attendees understood what marketing is with the help of practical examples and polls.

Our speaker for the day, Mr. Suresh Ramanathan, Dean and Principal at Great Lakes Institute of Management, covered the complete journey of Qwikster to Netflix. Mr. Suresh also highlighted the importance of marketing for a firm and shared tips and tricks to be the perfect one. With a very informative and fascinating presentation and profound matter, students were able to get a complete understanding of the cycle of transformation of marketing and how it is done, closely.

The International Programs Committee welcomed Andres Perez, Director of Business School, ULAW; Kamran Ashfaq, Director of International Department, ULAW; Fiona Guernaoui, Director of Student Immigration and Compliance Advice, ULAW; Stephen Carleton, Director of Student Recruitment, GUS; and Upasana Sachdeva, the Country Head, India, ULAW from the University of Law Business School and Edwise International.

The guest speakers shared insights on the courses available at the university with the students following the talk. The delegation also elaborated upon the university, and details regarding the courses accessible to the students on their respective websites. It was an exciting and thrilling opportunity to interact with such commendable orators. The event for the day concluded with a platform for interactive discussion.

Survival Guide to Living Abroad

The International Programs Committee organised a webinar - Survival Guide to Living Abroad, to help the students of H.R. College gain insights on studying as well as living abroad.

The event commenced with an introduction of the speakers who are Alumni of H.R. College, and currently studying abroad. The speakers were Rithik Sinha (from Kedge Business School, France), Kshama Jain (from Imperial College London, England), Raunak Damle (from SP Jain School of Global Management Dubai, UAE), Anjali Bhanot (from University of Westminster London, England) and Namrata Bhandari (from University College Dublin, Ireland).

The speakers discussed a wide range of topics related to studying and living abroad. They covered topics ranging from managing monthly expenses, choosing your ideal University, finding job opportunities abroad, and how to deal with discrimination if there is any.

The speakers not only guided the students about various courses across universities but also explained the visa situation post-study, side hustles, and lifestyle as well as climate changes. Hence, the students got a 360-degree understanding of the life of a student living abroad.

The points that were commonly highlighted by the speakers were that the students need to be confident, and fluent in English to have an edge. With the help of such a detailed and engaging webinar, the students were able to learn that the opportunities abroad are unparalleled as compared to studying in your own country, along with the little difficulties one may have to deal with.

CERTIFICATE COURSES IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Language Classes were conducted by the IPC to assist students to learn a foreign language that would benefit them and open a wide array of opportunities in their life, were conducted online.

1. SPANISH LANGUAGE CLASS
December 8-29, 2021

Ms. Jennissa Thomas conducted the Spanish class course for the students. She holds a B1 Spanish diploma and is working toward a C2 (Mastery/Proficiency) certificate.

The students learned to converse in simple language, introduce themselves and convey their interests in Spanish. They learned the basics of the language, such as how to greet and bid farewell to others, basic everyday expressions, alphabets with pronunciation, numerals in Spanish, days of the week, months of the year, and how to ask/give personal information, among other things. The course concluded with a test to revise the learnings imbibed by the students.

2. GERMAN LANGUAGE CLASS
May 2-20, 2022

Under the guidance of Mrs. Sharvari Khatvkar, a batch of 28 students pursuing the language course. She has been teaching German for the past 25 years and has an excellent academic record in the language. She stood 1st in Pune University for Diploma in German.

During the duration of the course, the students were taught how to introduce themselves and convey their interests in German. The students got an opportunity to learn the basics of the language, such as how to greet and bid farewell to others, basic everyday expressions, alphabets and how to pronounce them, numerals in German, days of the week, months of the year, and how to ask/give personal information, among other things. Tests and assignments were taken throughout the course to revise the knowledge of the language that was gained by the Students.

International Programmes Committee Orientation

August 24, 2020

The International Programmes Committee orientation session commenced with introduction of the club and its activities by Dr.Chandani Bhattacharjee. The students were briefed about the club activities and events organized. The session ended with a Q&A where queries and doubts raised by the new members were responded to and resolved.

THE US CONSULATE

August 28, 2020

The session commenced with the introduction of our chief guest Deborah Rosario from Education USA at USIEF Mumbai. This was followed by insights into the higher education system of the U.S. Deborah Rosario briefed the students about education in the USA explaining the various courses offered for masters with the help of a detailed presentation. The programme ended with a Q & A session.

FRENCH CONSULATE

September 3, 2020

The IPC hosted Sir Vikash, the Campus France Manager of the western region. He has had diverse work experience in private and public universities, with both national and international expertise. The principal objectives are to help students achieve higher education in France and aid them with visa, study plan, personal counselling and workshops.

New Zealand Consulate

September 5, 2020

Mrs. Shaileja Vora, the Market Development Manager at Education New Zealand, gave a brief introduction of what New Zealand has to offer, its education system and the benefits of studying there. Eight government-funded universities with globally recognized degrees were showcased.

EDHEC Business School

September 7, 2020

Mr. Nilesh Gaikwad, a regular columnist and country manager at EDHEC Business School briefed the students on how to build a strong CV. Students were taught how to make a covering letter, the admission process and the requirements for the same. The session concluded with a Q&A segment which cleared doubts about various aspects on how to seek admission at EDHEC Business School.

ZIPCODE 2.0

September 7, 2020

The objective of ZIPCODE was to create a holistic and real experience of the international scenario for students, increase their knowledge about world affairs, and celebrate the diversity of the world. It encompassed international insight, exposure, and enlightenment through seminars, quizzes, case studies and mega management events. The simulation served as an ideal way to pave personal growth as well as teamwork with a competitive twist.

The Closing Ceremony had Ms. Laurance Mariet Sanchez, Kedge Business School, France and Ms. Deborah Rosario, Education USA Adviser, USIEF; who imparted substantial knowledge and advice about education and offered tips on navigating through student life.

Panel Discussion

The International Programmes Committee of H.R. College organized a Panel discussion on ‘An insight on higher education from our international alumni’. The panellists were students of HR with experience of studying abroad.

The session commenced with the introduction of our prestigious panelists. The panel consisted of Mr. Naren Punjabi (student of Tsinghua College, China), Mr. Roshan (National University of Singapore) Mr. Yash Sanghvi (Brandeis University, USA), Ms. Shruti Khetwani (University of Windsor), Mr. Premal Shah (University of Sydney, Australia), Mr. Siddharth Narayan (Erasmus University Rotterdam, Amsterdam) and Mr. KrishVelkar (King's College, London). They not only shared their university experience but also gave valuable insights into various aspects of studying abroad, the challenges they faced while preparing for international education and the steps followed by them.

The event was exceptionally interactive and highly engaging. Many doubts were cleared and the experienced panellists on-board satisfactorily answered queries.

MASTERCLASS ON BUSINESS GROOMING AND ETIQUETTE

Maria Ramstad Kristiansen, the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment at SHL Luzern enlightened students on the ABC (appearance, behaviour, communication) of business ethics, which can take you a long way in building professional relations. She also spoke about EQ, personality traits, character skills, importance of good clothing, how to build your image in accordance with your company's image and profession, good workplace ethic and behaviour protocol while interacting with professional groups.

COLLEGE FAIR 2021

January 19-24, 2021

An informative weeklong conclave where undergraduate students got a chance to interact with universities from across the globe, as they inquired about their future course of education.

After a successful start to the week, the first session was one where students were advised by Times Group counsellors to find the most apt graduate program for them, with respect to selecting the correct country, course, and how to use student profiling to one's benefit. They also covered the application process and visa requirements, providing a protean solution to student's needs.

The third day saw a session about GRE and GMAT, entrance exams that are considered vital to crack, to gain admission to good universities. H.R. College students learned which exam was better suited to their needs, when and where they could take the exams, and how to gain a competitive advantage in them.

From then on, the next few days involved several sessions daily with various universities. In incredibly personal sessions, pupils learned about individualised applications, requirements, deadlines, while also interacting with professors and admissions officers who gave insider tips to crack the application! That concluded an interesting and informative week that brought about global exposure, ambition, and mutual understanding.

CAREER DELIBERATIONS IN CHANGING TIMES

A panel discussion on career deliberations in changing times was held online in collaboration with the Queen Mary University of London to guide the students in making informed decisions for their future.

The guest speakers provided the students with insights on the impact on current jobs by globalisation, technology, disruption and the students were made aware of emerging job opportunities that one can look out for. Further, the participants were educated about the career decisions that they must make in these trying times.

BRITISH COUNCIL INDIA WEBINARS

February 3, 2021

IPC organized a seminar on Econometrics in collaboration with the Brtish Council. The session commenced with a brief introduction of British Council by Khyati Ved, Senior Manager – Higher Education, British Council. This was followed by the introduction of Dr. Maria Giamouzi, lecturer, University of Bath who then took over the seminar. She taught the students a great deal about Methodologies of Econometrics, Models for Prediction, Forecasting and Control or Privacy purposes. She gave the students a different perspective about Econometrics and its significance in various fields. The event was exceptionally interactive and highly engaging.

INDIAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (ISB) - YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME (YLP)

March 2021

Mr. Amit Tyagi, the Associate Director of Admissions at the Indian School of Business introduced The Young Leaders Programme, which is essentially designed to equip young leaders with multi-disciplinary perspectives, thinking skills & research tools to aid them achieve their career goals. Thus, YLP guarantees a deferred admission to high potential college students to the much revered & globally ranked MBA, the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management at the ISB.

Federica Maria Giove, Director of the Uni-Italia Centre in India & the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, presented a Scholarship Drive promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uni-Italia & the Italian Trade Agency.
