Hostel Association is the official club of the H. R. College which is an initiative to make sure that the outstation students who are far away from their homes will not face any kind of trouble in Mumbai. The club ensures that all the hostel students will be taken care of and will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a friendly environment.


ACTIVITIES 2023-2024

VISIT TO PAWNA LAKE

September 2-3, 2023         Venue: Pawna Lake, Maval Region, Maharashtra

The Hostel Association of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics embarked on a recreational journey to Pawna Lake Camping, a pristine natural wonder in the Maval region of Maharashtra. This memorable visit was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Ms. Charvi Gada and Mr. Vicky Karnani, who guided and enlightened the participants on the significance of preserving this ecological gem.

Additionally, adventure activities such as boating and trekking allowed participants to connect with the serene surroundings. The visit not only fostered a sense of responsibility towards nature but also provided a rejuvenating experience for all involved. Pawna Lake, with its serene surroundings, served as the base camp for the adventure. Students enjoyed the trek to Lohagad fort for the panoramic views of the Sahyadri Mountains and a chance to explore its history. This visit to Pawna Lake served as a reminder of the importance of preserving our natural treasures and promoting responsible tourism.

ACTIVITIES 2022-2023

SONDAI FORT TREK

February 13, 2023         Attendees: 87

The Hostel Association of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized a full-day trek to Sondai Fort. Ms. Charvi Gada and Mr. Vicky Karnani accompanied the students on this tiresome yet exciting trek. The trip commenced from the college campus at 6:30 AM with a total of 85 students along with 2 professors.

The trekking group reached Sondai Fort and after a briefing and a warm-up session, the trekking began. Throughout the day, all the students sauntered through the woods and rejuvenated themselves by rebuilding their relationship with nature. It not only helped them reconnect with their inner selves but also helped develop endurance and confidence.

Seminar on Gender Sensitivity - Norms, Biases & Stereotypes

August 8, 2019

The seminar on “Gender Sensitivity - Norms, Biases and Stereotypes” was conducted by Ms. Priya Tiwari from Red Dot Foundation, with 100 students attending.She started her session with a wonderful presentation on “Safecity” which operates under the Red Dot Foundation. She spoke about gender sensitivity and norms about gender that have been prevailing in the society and how it affects an individual at a psychological level. The difference between the sex and the gender of a person was also made clear.

Ms. Tiwari highlighted how bollywood and advertisement agencies portray women and how this has led to a preconceived notion of their status in the society. She spoke on the need for early identification and intervention of depression in women dealing with such issues and the mental health of women. She shared a couple of incidents regarding how to be confident in public and thus being a responsible and alert citizen.

Then she gave presentation on sexual harassment faced by women in workplace and college which was very informative throwing light on the types of harassment, the specific laws to combat it and concerned authorities who would implement such laws and provide justice.
