The Growth Development & Change Cell organises formal training events like Group Discussions, Corporate Training, and Workshops. GDC launched a series of events called 'Happy Hours' to enrich students with interactive and enlightening sessions for a perfect harmony of the mind, body, and soul.

ACTIVITIES 2023-2024

AMPLITECH: THE DIGITAL MARKETING EXCELLENCE COURSE

July 1-10, 2023        Attendees: 57

The Growth Development and Change Cell and Press Connect Club of H.R. College organized an online digital marketing course to upskill the students in the concepts of Digital Marketing. The certificate course was conducted in collaboration with Academy of Digital Arts and was open for all. Students were also given the opportunity to learn and master new trends and major prospects for innovation in this field.

In this 30-hour programme course, students learnt about the creation, production, and implementation of digital marketing, distribution techniques such as email marketing, web-based marketing, and mobile marketing. After the successful completion of the course students were awarded with certificates.

THE ART OF LINKEDIN PROFILE BUILDING

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College held a webinar on The Art of LinkedIn Profile Building with Mr. Aryan. The event commenced with an introduction of the speaker and his emphasis on the importance of a good LinkedIn profile.

The interaction was initiated with an ice-breaker session followed by strategies to enhance our LinkedIn profile and the logic behind them. Mr. Aryan included tips and tricks for consistency, presentation, diversity, and professionalism in the various sections of our profile. He emphasized on the importance of presenting a strong personal brand and utilizing LinkedIn's features to enrich visibility, credibility, and professional growth. The session concluded with a Q&A session.

RESILIENT HEARTS: TALES OF FORGIVENESS

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in association with the Sadhu Vaswani Mission and The Moment of Calm Campaign held an event ‘Resilient Hearts: Tales of Forgiveness’, a narrative evening aimed at promoting empathy, understanding and benevolence. The event was a sincere gesture for Global Forgiveness Day which is celebrated on 2nd August.

This event took place in the presence of Dr. Manju Nichani, current Secretary and Trustee of Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Mumbai along with former President of GDC. The event commenced with words of wisdom from our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani and Didi Krishna Kumari’s thoughts on embracing forgiveness and peace. We saw how forgiveness transformed people’s lives through a video by Sadhu Vaswani Mission. Dr. Manju Nichani spoke on the importance of forgiveness and shared her experiences. The audience shared their stories on how forgiveness had changed the dynamics of relationships in their personal lives. The interaction taught us to forgive and forget.

ACE YOUR INTERVIEW: SKILLS TO SUCCESS

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College organized an informative webinar on interview skills by speaker Ms. Nishka Joshi. The event aimed to equip participants with valuable tips and techniques to follow during an interview. The importance of grooming and professionalism was underscored.

Ms. Nishka Joshi starter off the webinar with a discussion on conducting a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) for self-assessment. The session continued with a comprehensive guide on interview preparation, covering research on the company, industry and job role. She delved into strategies for answering interview questions with confidence and clarity. The importance of non-verbal communication was emphasized, with tips on maintaining positive body language during interviews. A Q&A session in the end fostered engagement and addressed specific concerns. Participants were left with a deeper understanding of the nuances for successful job interviews.

BALANCING BLISS

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized Balancing Bliss, a session on mastering work-life harmony and discovering stress relief techniques. Speaker Dr. Priti Yamdagni commenced the webinar with an interactive activity. The session proceeded with an in-depth discussion and guidance on setting clear priorities and effective goal-setting techniques.

Dr. Yamdagni’s insights not only provided a roadmap but also equipped participants with hacks to navigate through various complexities. The webinar served as a reminder that work-life equilibrium is an ever-evolving process that necessitates ongoing self-assessment and adaptation. The Q&A session, along with engaging brainstorming activities, fostered participant engagement and addressed specific concerns. Attendees found the session extremely informative and inspiring.

PROBLEM CRACKERS

The Growth, Development and Change Cell conducted an interactive online session ‘Problem Crackers’ aimed at honing problem-solving and analytical skills of students. The speaker for the event, Mr. Sridhar Ramanathan, an executive coach and a TEDx speaker, guided the attendees on how to deal with problems in academics, career and social life.

The session was truly insightful and inspired the students to turn their problems into possibilities and obstacles into opportunities.

CHARISMA ON COMMAND

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College conducted an insightful session- “Charisma on Command” on developing charisma, confidence and communication.

The speaker, Mr. Sameer Narad, a professional mentor and motivator, with over 12 years of experience, shared his knowledge on being a highly charismatic and confident individual. He also imparted valuable life lessons. The session was a great learning experience for all and the students were inspired by his words.

CREATIVE CASCADE

College organized an open mic event- "Creative Cascade‐ a Platform to Perform!” An open stage event, Creative Cascade provided students with the opportunity to showcase their talents across various categories such as singing, poetry, rapping, stand-up comedy, mimicry, storytelling etc. The event was a fun-filled, entertaining affair. Students participated with great enthusiasm and the audience enjoyed the show thoroughly.

DASTUR DEBATE COMPETITION

Debates are an opportunity to hone one’s argumentative skills and research abilities, while also allowing them to practice articulating their ideas in a clear and concise manner. Dastur Debate Competition's objective is to stimulate students' thought process and expose them to fresh ideas. The Growth Development and Change Cell of H.R. The Chamber of Tax Consultants organized the 6th Edition of the Nationwide Dastur Debate Competition. The debate was organized on an E-platform, thus allowing a wider reach for participation.

The competition had 4 elimination rounds and 2 final rounds. The first two rounds were held on January 23, 2023 in which 4 teams were selected. The final round was conducted on January 28, 2023. The participants were engaged in interesting rebuttals.

DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY WORKSHOP

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College conducted a De-stress through movement, a Dance Movement Therapy workshop with Ms. Alisha Pinto for the degree and SFC faculties. Dance Movement Therapy is a psychotherapeutic process which focuses on healing through Dance and Movement. It was a stress-buster and a break from monotony for the teachers.

The Growth, Development and Change Cell of H.R. College in collaboration with NSS, SYNC, YLC and Hostel Association visited Angel Xpress, an NGO in Bandra.

Playing several games like passing the parcel and Pictionary with the kids there was very enjoyable. There was a talent round where children came up to portray their skills like singing, dancing, mimicry and rapping. It was followed by an energetic Zumba session. We also focused on developing the kids' soft skills through interactive activities. The children showed a lot of enthusiasm. It was an extremely wholesome experience.

CORPORATE ETIQUETTES WORKSHOP

He spoke about the importance of professional conduct and effective communication. He gave valuable tips on making a professional presentation. The session was extremely insightful. The attendees also had the opportunity to interact with the speaker through their questions.

ANIMAL FEEDING DRIVE

The members fed animals like dogs, cats, cows and pigeons in their locality. The event was organized with the aim of feeding animals and raising awareness about the importance of animal welfare.

PROJECT BON AP'PET'ITE
August 1-21, 2021

GDC conducted 'Project Bon Ap'pet'ite' an animal/bird feeding drive, to bring awareness among the masses and join in the noble cause of feeding strays. Students and teachers across the college were asked to feed stray animals or birds and click a picture while they did it.

CRYPTO: THE GEN Z OF CURRENCY; WAY FORWARD
August 7, 2021

The webinar had 70+ participants for the session with Mr. Sidharth Sogani, an MBA in International Business & Finance and the founder of CREBACO. The audience was briefed about the working of cryptocurrencies, the importance of holding crypto, and its legal acceptance across various countries.

THE GAME OF SHOWS
September 23 & 25, 2021

The Game of Shows', an event made for all the binge-watchers, had 40+ participants from across the college. The participants were judged on their knowledge of TV Shows and Series. It comprised of four different rounds, the google form round, followed by the rapid-fire round, the pdf round, and finally the audio round. The winners received customized diaries of their favourite TV Shows from our sponsors - MinimArt. Overall it was a fun and exciting event.

HALLOWEEN ICE-BREAKER

GDC conducted the annual Ice-breaker for the new members of the club to mingle and virtually meet new faces to get to know them better!

Everyone entered the meeting with creative Halloween costumes along with a Halloween-themed virtual background. The two games planned were “Halloween Would You Rather” and “Halloween Trick or Treat.” Through the riot of laughter, everlasting memories were created!

VOICE MODULATION WORKSHOP
December 17, 2021

The Growth Development and Change Cell conducted a workshop on Voice Modulation with Mr. Nihal Bhosale, who enlightened the students on a few tips, tricks, and exercises to maximize their usage of the diaphragm and vocal cords.

There were also a few breathing exercises taught to improve control over their voice. The students even saw live examples of popular voice modulations that we often get a glimpse of in our lives. It was truly an insightful session.

ANGEL XPRESS FOUNDATION X GDC
December 21, 2021

The GDC team visited Angel Xpress Foundation, a specialized NGO in Bandra with GDC members enthusiastically preparing colourful flip charts to demonstrate storytelling to the children.

During this event, the children were taught team building and communication skills using numerous fun activities like trivia, rhyme play, general knowledge quiz, riddles, tongue twisters, and letter writing on the occasion of Christmas. The visit ended with smiles on everyone's faces!

SPECTRUM - GDC'S SPECIAL EDITION
January 1, 2022

The year started with a bang by launching "Spectrum" - GDC's Special Edition Magazine for Christmas and New Year's on January 1, 2022. The magazine is a combination of creativity with pen-wielding thoughts put forth by the members of the cell. They shared their thoughts on how 2021, a year of difficulties helped them stay productive, and learn something new every day. Innovations taking place around the world in 2021 were also highlighted.

INSPIRE - GO ABOVE & BEYOND
March 9 & 10, 2022

The Growth, Development & Change Cell of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics proudly presented it’s first-ever Flagship Festival INSPIRE. The fest was an amalgamation of events that encompassed the domain of soft skills. On Day 1, Nisha Joshi, Sejal Agarwal, and Nupur Munot judged the event 'When Disney Met Bollywood'. In addition, we had 'JAM- Inspire in a Minute' with Hormuz Ragina.

Day 2 included Cricketstaan judged by Raunak Kapoor, 'You think you're funny?' with Pranav Nambiar as the judge, and our flagship event 'Shipwreck' judged by Anant Bothra and Monaz Ranina.

Packed with some fun and exciting avenues of art, design, photography, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, the event provided a platform for everyone to bring out their best.

A) Rediscover yourself: Pre lockdown to post lockdown

This session was conducted by ace psychologist Dr. Sunitha Shanker. It was an enriching session that talked about reconnecting with yourself and the journey within. She enthralled everyone with her exceptional expertise and suggested effective ways to overcome anxiety, depression and isolation. She gave valuable tips to tackle anger management and impulsiveness. She enlightened the audience with her phenomenal insights and skilfully ushered the road to acceptance and happiness, while igniting the flame of self-discovery.

B) Awareness

As part of the Mental Growth week, the team spread awareness about Mental Health issues. Various photo albums were published on our Instagram handle about social anxiety, self esteem issues and anger management. These posts covered ways to effectively forgive and forget while highlighting the importance of kindness and self-compassion. They destigmatised mental health issues and explained ways to cope with them.

This exceptionally informative Instagram Live session was conducted on with the ultimate finance wizard, Mr. Pratik Gandhi. He shared various tips and tricks for profitable investing. He highlighted the importance of a sound long-term investment strategy and thorough research of the company’s fundamentals before investing hard earned money in the extremely volatile stock markets. He debunked various myths associated with investing and explained the value of patience and timing. He stressed the necessity of having a diversified portfolio to offset risks and quoted various real life case studies that budding investors can learn from.

As a part of the intellectual growth and well-being week, the Journalism 101 Instagram Live was conducted with Ms. Peenaz Tyagi. In her personal opinion, observing, questioning and feeling things is what Journalism is all about. She delivered valuable insights into the profession from an insider’s perspective. The ‘Photography and Videography 101’ Instagram Live session took place on. It was conducted by Mr. Aamer Khan, who is a passionate freelance video editor with a professional education in Mass Media and Advertising. He discussed various types of cameras and simple technical equipment that can be used to take professional looking photographs. He spoke about different camera angles, frames and lighting to capture the ideal photo and video. He gave enriching tips for amateur photographers and videographers and shared his experience and journey with them.

He discussed various forms of art and the techniques associated with them. He demonstrated how to make the ideal prints and spoke about different perceptions used to judge paintings. He enlightened us with different brush strokes, shared enriching tips for budding artists and announced the winner of the Essence of Colours art competition.

She suggested ways to create layered characters, nuanced narratives and gripping plots. She also spoke about dealing with the writer’s block and shared enriching tips for aspiring authors. Team GDC hosted an enthralling Instagram Live session with Mr. Juggy Sandhu, one of the most popular singers in Mumbai who has performed in over 1000 shows all over the world. He shared his journey to fame and spoke about his personal experience in the profession. He performed his newly launched single ‘Teri Meri Yaari’ for the first time during this session. He also sang some of his hit tracks that got the viewers tapping their feet and grooving to the beats.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day Ms. Shreya Patharkar, founder of a leading luxury travel and concierge service, Lafayette Luxury; provided valuable insights on the corporate culture which exists today and how it has revolutionised over the years. It was fascinating to note her opinions on the variations in the work culture of India when contrasted against the Middle East.

She highlighted the importance of having self-belief, being confident and working hard to achieve ones goals. Many queries from students were skilfully answered. The session left the audience inspired to bring about a change in society.

The Growth Development and Change Cell in association with the Chamber of Tax Consultants conducted the 4th edition of the iconic Dastur Debate Competition. This National Level extravaganza saw participation from more than 32 prominent colleges across the country.

The competition, spread across 5 rounds, witnessed an extraordinarily high level of debate and discussion propounded by rich arguments, facts and impeccable oration. Over the course of 2 days, participants employed the sharp dagger of their words & the powerful sword of knowledge in an enriching battle of intellects that enthralled and enlightened our audience.

SEMINAR ON 'JOY OF LIVING'

July 23, 2019

The Growth Development and Change Cell organized a seminar titled 'The Joy of living' at the college. Mrs. Rekha Shahani from Public Concern for Governance Trust was the keynote speaker. The seminar was organized to explore the joys in life, both large and small. The session was interactive with the audience actively sharing life experiences, singing songs and cracking jokes.

INSIGHTS & CAREERS IN FINANCIAL MARKETS WITH FINTECH TRENDS

GDC organised a financial guidance workshop at the Bombay Stock Exchange conducted by Prof. Rakesh Nair, faculty at BSE for 20 years. There were approximately 200 First year and Second year students of Finance across all courses who visited BSE to gain a deep and profound understanding of the real world of finance.

DASTUR DEBATE COMPETITION 2020

January 16 & 18, 2020

Growth Development Change Cell in association with the Chambers of Tax Consultants organized the 3rd edition of the Dastur Debate at H.R. College. There were 32 teams of two participants each, from top Commerce and Law Colleges, as well as CA and Law firms in the competition.

  • 1st position - Palash Bhatt and Vedant Gada from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics
  • Best Speaker trophy - shared by Soham Pandya from MB Nayak & Co. and Sparsh Shah from Hinesh R. Doshi (firm).
