Unveiling the Influence of Mathematics: Exploring Practical Realities

"Envision a reality stripped of mathematics—a daunting concept, indeed. Whether fine-tuning your monthly budget or witnessing the marvels of engineering in bridges and skyscrapers, mathematics is an indispensable force shaping our daily existence." The Epsilon Club of HR College spearheaded an initiative, providing a stage for budding intellects to unveil the tangible applications of mathematics through compelling presentations. With 17 participants from the junior college, the event drew an audience of over 150 students. The Epsilon Club's exploration of real-life applications underscored the pivotal role mathematics plays in our world. It transcends being merely a school subject; it emerges as a toolkit for resolving authentic challenges in our global landscape. " As you balance your checkbook or marvel at architectural wonders, bear in mind that mathematics stands as the silent architect, shaping the very foundation of the world we inhabit."

VEDIC MATHS SESSION

"Unlocking the wisdom of the ancients, Vedic Maths reveals the elegance of numerical mastery, turning every calculation into a harmonious dance of numbers."

Unlocking the timeless wisdom embedded in Vedic Maths, the Epsilon Club of HR College orchestrated a captivating Vedic Maths Session for Fyjc and Syjc students. Ms. Bhavana Shah, our esteemed Supervisor and Mathematics Faculty member, guided today's Gen Z through an exploration of mathematical techniques rooted in ancient India, notably found in the Vedas, ancient Indian scriptures.

During the session, Ms. Shah imparted invaluable insights and practical tricks to empower students in exams and beyond. These included techniques such as

  • Multiplication by Vertically and Crosswise
  • Multiplication of a number by 11
  • Squaring Numbers ending with 5
  • Subtraction of Decimals
  • Divisibility Rules.

Witnessing these tricks in action left the students in awe.

Event highlights

  3. Collaborative problem solving: Emphasizing teamwork, participants collaborated closely to tackle complex problems. This not only tested their mathematical skills but also their ability to work harmoniously in pairs.
  4. Scoring system: A dynamic scoring system rewards both accuracy and speed, encouraging teams to solve problems not only correctly but also efficiently. This added an element of urgency and excitement to the competition. The club set the tone for the event by emphasizing the integration of games and math to make learning enjoyable and accessible to all participants.

SCAVENGER HUNT
September 14, 2020

The students of EPSILON - The Math Club of Junior College hosted an intra-collegiate event: Scavenger Hunt, filled with questions relating to math and puzzles, which made the participants put on their thinking caps in order to reach the winning position! It comprised 20 clues with a time limit of 25 minutes. There were 44 participants.
A WhatsApp Group was created for each team where the participants had to send their answers. Every correct answer would fetch them 10 points and a wrong answer would deduct 5 points from their total score.
The event concluded with every team performing extremely well.

Math Quiz - QUEST FOR INFINITY
April 25, 2021

Quest for Infinity was an intra-collegiate mathematics quiz organised by EPSILON – The Math Club of Junior College. The Quiz was held in two phases: The Elimination Round and the Final Round. A Bonus Round was also conducted on Instagram to make the event more interesting. The Questions were based on General Math, Logical Reasoning, Blood Relations, Pictorial Representation and many more fields like these in the wide array of Math. We received a large amount of participation in the Elimination Round which was conducted on a Quiz Website. The Top 12 participants in the Elimination Round booked their seats for the Final Round based on their scores. The Top 12 Participants were then divided into 6 teams. The Final Rounds were quite interesting as it had various thought-provoking Sub-Rounds, namely: MCQ Round, Name the Following Round, Pictorial Round and Rapid Fire Round. The Rapid Fire Round was a game changing round as there was a nail-biting competition faced by all the teams and many teams gained and lost points simultaneously. The Six Teams battled out fiercely against each other to successfully emerge as the Winners of the Quiz and prove themselves to possess the Infinity Gauntlet of Mathematics. The quiz also grabbed the attention of the teachers and we thereby held a Special Teacher's Round. All the teachers gave answers with great enthusiasm and they loved the event as it had questions from each and every segment of math which took the Event altogether to a different height of success. There were 45 participants in all. After all the rounds, the most awaited part of the event arose which was the Announcement of Results.
All the teams were very excited so as to know who would win the quiz as the Event witnessed a Cut-Throat Competition.

Mathematrix organised by R.A. Poddar College, the First Pan India Level Digital Mathematical event truly designed to upgrade the mathematical skills to the next level organized by Mathematics Association of Podar and hosted by R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics.

Arthashashtra organised by NM College, a financial market festival, where the knowledge of the participants regarding financial markets & investments is put to a test

Consortium, an Inter-Collegiate Event organized by the Rotaract Club of N.M. College.

Shramik and Bhavesh from FYJC qualified for the semi finals for two events – Wrangle of Words and Minute to Win.

Sanjeev Jain from SYJC showcasing his talent qualified for the finals of Yoga Hunt.

The SYJC team of Janak Bajoria and Vandan Dave, through their relentless efforts, peaked their way to the finals of Bidding War.

The team of Kermanshah Kolah and Sanjeev Jain qualified for the semi finals of Break it like Bhogle.

Talent Parade 2021

In this intra club event Epsilon was represented by a contingent led by CL Vishakha Jain and ACL Kashish Tanwani in four categories namely Club dance, singing, Fashion show and Unique talent.

Nandini Bulani qualified for finals by singing

Parnika Mhatre for the fashion show in the grand finale.

Bhavash Sumai in the Unique Talent category had qualified in the semifinals.

Prit Jain our organization head bagged 1st position in the event ‘InpursuiT’ organized by Insight Club.
