YUVA UNSTOPPABLE : It was a 40 hour project meant to spread general awareness among the slum children. Every Sunday for approx. three hours new tasks and physical activities were taken up to enhance their mental skills, for further development a lot of games and creative sessions were held. We celebrated days like Friendship Day, Valentines Day, Christmas etc.
We taught them different subjects like maths, science. geography, history etc. at BALB HAWAN.
HR NSS ORIENTATION : The orientation was held on the 20th July, 2009. The chief guest for the event was the NSS District Coordinator Mr. Satish Kolte. A slide show was
presented to all the students regarding all the activities undertaken by HR NSS. The new core council was appointed.
Mr. Satish Kolte also gave a presentation, giving a gist of what NSS is all about and giving an idea of the future projects. Our principal Dr. Indu Shahani also shared her views about NSS and its working.



MEATLESS DAY RALLY : Meatless day rally was conducted on the occasion of Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday on 18th November, 2009. We decided to observe 25th November as ‘Meatless day.” This rally was undertaken from World Trade Center to K.C. College. It was a 4 hour programme from 7am to 12pm.

FLAG SELLING : Flag selling was conducted in the month of August. It was specially conducted for Independence Day Celebration. We sold 500 flags. This project was done in coordination with Hitech foundation.

LAADLI : Laadli is an initiative of Population First. It addresses the issue of sex selection, which is drastically bringing down the girl-boy ratio in the country. Laadli works with four important stakeholder groups - the youth, community, media and medical fraternity.
Laadli was a on going project for a week in which volunteers participated in the various events organised by the NGO. The
various categories’ were we have had our hands over includes Essay competition, Poster making, Slogan making and a Skit. In short the effective principle of Population First is to adopt a zero tolerance for sex selection and then transform the existing landscape of your society.

PEACE RALLY : Peace rally is organized every year on 6th August. The event was organized on 6th August, 2009 primarily remembering the effect that the disastrous nuclear bombing had on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The rally was held from Azad Maidan to Hutatma chowk. The rally saw participation of more than 1000 students and various other people from other fields. The event displayed large audience participation and displayed the unity among various people for the only objective - PEACE. After the oath taking ceremony everyone pledged for world peace and prayed that the incident that took place on August 8, 1984 was a devastating incident in human history and should not happen again.

NON VIOLENCE DAY : Gandhi Jayanti was observed by HR NSS as non-violence day on Oct. 2, 2009. The event was the world wide celebration of peace day and there was a chain of rally formed with the peace torch was passed. The NSS unit of most of the colleges participated. The rally ended at the Convocation Hall, Churchgate where the rally was addressed. The speakers impressed upon us the importance of peace in today’s world.

SKATEATHON FOR GLOBAL WARMING : On the 14th Feb., 2010 a skating marathon for kids was held, from Lotus Court, Worli to Asiatic Library. It was conducted by J.J. Skaters in collaboration with Mumbai University NSS unit. The programme started at 5am in the morning. The effort was a step towards raising a voice against global warming. NSS volunteers of our college participated in the project. The activities undertaken by them were traffic management and parent coordination.

RED RIBBON EXPRESS : NSS unit of H.R. College established the RRC in the month of July 2009 With 30 members registered in the club who will actively take part in RRE (RED RIBBON EXPRESS) activities.
On 22nd Jan and 23rd Jan 2010 almost 25 volunteers visited Red Ribbon Express at C.S.T. station. It was a 3 hour programme.

AIDS AWARENESS SEMINAR : RRE conducted aids awareness seminar in college in two sessions in collaboration with AISEC. More than 150 students benefitted from the training workshop. After the workshop an awareness drive was conducted for 15 days by these volunteers to spread awareness on HIV/ AIDS.

BLOOD DONATION : Blood donation and a Thalassaemia check up camp was conducted on Feb. 2, 2010 from 8am to 1pm. at H.R. College where 30 volunteers managed the event. This blood donation was conducted in collaboration with J.J. Hospital, Byculla. We got very good response. Although we got more than 160 registrations, we could manage to collect 80 bottles of blood.
For Thalassemia 207 checkups were done.
