INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES

Learning and passion for knowledge was ignited and the HSNC Board vested the responsibility on each of its institutions to
pave the way for further growth. Dr. Indu Shahani, the torch bearer for H.R. College took up the challenge and the international initiatives took a different dimension. The pathway of travel opened many vistas of opportunities and led to the opening of an International Programs Office headed by Ms. Shamira Abdulla and an Education Counseling Center headed by Mrs. Pratibha Jain.

Teaching assignments with Union College, USA, University of West Georgia, Niagra County Community College, NJIT, University of Indianapolis at Bloomingdale and the University of California at Berkeley were instituted.

University of California at Berkeley, University of West Georgia and Monash University, Australia brought in fresh
opportunities for teachers to get acquainted with the system abroad.

Student internships in Australia were followed by student internships in America.

The College opened its doors to international co-ordinators and counselors INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES the world over and this has resulted in further opportunities. A number of international Programmes were initiated:

21st June, 2009 : Educational Counsellor’s workshop conducted by Ms Rosemary Gosling, Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science, External Study on the 21st June at 4.30 pm.
28th July, 2009 : British Council delegation on Global Scholarships
Rosemary Gosling spoke of the distant education course that LSE is responsible for delivering.
August 26-27 : Dr. Andrew Farmer, Department Of Public Health And Primary Care, University of Oxford
Dr. Farmer shared his vision with our students.
30th September : Meeting with the High Commissioner British Council led by Simon Gammell Director British Council.
Discussions centred around the UKIERI’s Study India Programme.
13th to 23rd October, 2009 : Exchange Program: A group of 9 people from Bromley High School, GDST came for a cultural exchange to the campus.
22nd October, 2009 : Meeting with Malcom Gillies and Susan Roth, City University.
25th October, 2009 : High Powered Women’s Delegation-Luncheon meet to take discussions further in the field of academics and business.
28th October, 2009 : Susan Roth, Head of Masters Programs City University.
Discussions centered on the Masters Programmes and the Honours Programme being conducted at H.R. College.
24th November, 2009 : Mr. Will Breare-Hall Student Recruitment and Study Abroad Manager London School of Economics and Political Science.
Will discussed programmes at LSE and look a lecture on ‘How to Write a Personal Profile.’
8th December, 2009 : Women’s Delegation from the U.K (lead by Pinky Lelani). Luncheon meet with the British High Commissioner and Delegation. Discussions centered on Indo-UK relationships.
3rd February, 2010 : Eddie Malone, Deputy Head - UK Trade & Investment (Western India) Alastair Watson and a member of the Metropolitan Police visited the college to discuss the visit of the Duke to York to Mumbai.
9th March, 2009 : Visit of His Royal Highness, Prince Andrew, Duke of York to H.R. College to understand UK - H.R. College Exchange Programmes.

Discussions centered around the visit to Quebec and the follow up to be undertaken.
12th October,2009 : Meeting with Government Delegates of Government of Quebec, to prepare for the visit of the Prime Minister of Quebec to India, facilitated by the Consul for Quebec Benoit Jean Bernard.
16th November, 2009 : Interaction with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Joseph Carron at the Regal Room Taj Palace and Hotel. Discussions focused on Canadian Indian relationships.
