Research Cell provides a platform to the students of H.R College to make out a best in the researching domain and enhance their critical thinking capabilities to attain and understand the importance of research in every day’s life. Research Cell aims to break the monotony of the theory and connect this to the practical life which ultimately develop a 360-degree view of the students for the future. The Cell provide opportunities for members to participate in various National level competitions and provide them with the required assistance.

Goldilocks or Recession

In an era defined by rapid globalization and interconnected financial markets, understanding the intricacies of the global economy has become paramount for individuals, businesses, and policymakers alike. The Research Cell of H.R College, in collaboration with the Meghnad Desai Academy, unravel the mysteries of the economic landscape with the webinar, "Goldilocks or Recession? Navigating the Global Economy." This event promised to be a symphony of economic insights, featuring Dr. Tushar Poddar, the Macro Magician from Wellington Fund Management, UK. In conclusion, In the ever-evolving landscape of the global economy, staying abreast of economic trends and understanding the delicate balance between prosperity and recession is more critical than ever. As the confetti of economic enlightenment settles, participants leave armed with knowledge and perspectives that will undoubtedly shape their approach to the dynamic world of global finance.

INTERCOLLEGIATE WIN: ARTH-UTSAV

August 18, 2023

Arth-Utsav 2023 was organized by The Nagindas Khandwala College’s Planning Forum of the Department of Economics, and it featured various competitions. Moksha Jain from Research Cell of HR College showcased her oratory skills in the Elocution and Presentation competition at Arth-Utsav 2023. She eloquently presented her thoughts and ideas, impressing both the audience and the judges with her presentation. Moksha Jain’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional speaking abilities were recognized, as she secured the second podium in the elocution competition. Her accomplishment not only reflects her commitment to the art of public speaking but also highlights the competitive spirit and talent of participants in Arth-Utsav 2023.

INQUEST 3.0

August 18-19, 2023         No of Participants– 70

HR College of Commerce and Economics held INQUEST 3.0 on August 18th and 19th, 2023. The event focused on shedding light on lesser-known countries and equipping participants with tools to research and offer solutions. It had 70 students from Mumbai and other colleges. Ms. Drishti Bajaj and Mr. Arpit Jain were judges. Dr. Geeta Nair led the Research Cell. Three rounds were held: Discovering Nations, Critical Matters Clash, and Game On. Podar College teams won the Game On finale.

Inter-collegiate Poster Making Competition on International Literacy Day

September 5, 2023 to September 7, 2023

Tolani College of Commerce (Autonomous) organized an Inter-collegiate Poster Making Competition on International Literacy Day. The competition aimed to promote literacy through art, and students from various colleges participated enthusiastically. Jainee Ballu, a student from Tolani College, won first place. ANNUAL RESEARCH PAPER CONFERENCE

October 4, 2023

The Annual Research Paper Conference of ITM Group of Institutions Business School, Maharashtra, was held to showcase academic research and scholarly contributions. The name of the event was “SOCHEN'23” and its theme was “Sustainability”. HR College’s Research Cell member, Rachit Aswani, who participated as an individual, presented a research paper on the subject – “Effect of choosing vegan diet and an alternative dietary choice ”. That combined an in-depth analysis of extensive scientific literature with an independently conducted survey. The paper underwent a rigorous peer-review process, with approximately 160 teams (including individuals) qualifying from all across Maharashtra including post graduate as well as Phd students. These teams were selected after the initial review of paper abstracts by the judges. This qualification process serves as a testament to the quality and originality of the presented research.

Mumbai Public School Visit

November 25, 2023

The Research Cell of HR College, in collaboration with Connect for, recently had the pleasure of visiting Mumbai Public School in Dadar. Our focus was on engaging and enlightening the vibrant minds of the 7th-standard students. Accompanied by dedicated teachers and professionals, we kicked off the session with a warm introduction, allowing both students and volunteers to get to know each other. The students shared their backgrounds and experiences, creating a friendly atmosphere. To stimulate the young minds, we posed some intriguing brain teaser questions, encouraging active participation and thought-provoking discussions. Following the mental exercises, we transitioned into a hands-on activity – a paper bag creation session. It was heartening to witness the students unleash their creativity and teamwork during this crafty endeavor. To wrap up the day on a delightful note, we provided the students with some snacks. The entire experience was not only educational but also filled with laughter and shared moments. We believe that such interactions contribute positively to the holistic development of young minds, and we look forward to participating in more initiatives in the future.

RA Podar College E-Summit 2023

December 10 - 11, 2023

RA Podar College's Entrepreneur Development Cell (EDC) organised its E-Summit on December 10th and 11th. The two-day business conference aimed to engage aspiring entrepreneurs in the fields of business and entrepreneurship. The event drew a varied audience, comprising students, executives, and experienced industry professionals. The E-Summit aimed to build connections, inspire, and share practical insights while raising awareness about industry challenges and successes. The competition included two rounds: The Creative Pitch, where participants presented their ideas in a concise 2-minute video, and The Showdown which was a Shark Tank-style presentation followed by a Q&A session. The event boasted a distinguished panel of five judges from renowned sectors, evaluating presentations and engaging in insightful Q&A sessions. Meet Arora and Aanchal Chhatani from Research Cell at HR College participated in the event. Aanchal Chhatani's secured 3rd podium. The event concluded with motivating words from the Principal of RA Podar College and the esteemed judges, reinforcing the entrepreneurial spirit among the participants and leaving a lasting impact on the aspiring business leaders.

Aavishkar: Maharashtra State Inter-University Research Convention

University Level – 21st December 2023; State Level – 12th January 2024 to 15th January 2024.

Aavishkar, the Maharashtra State Inter-University Research Convention, was initiated in the academic year 2006-07 by the then Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra and the Chancellor of the Universities in the State. The primary objective of this convention is to promote research among students across various disciplines, identify hidden innovative talents, and provide opportunities for the development of research aptitude. In the recent edition of Aavishkar, H.R. College was represented by a total of three teams. Each team, consisting of talented students, aimed to showcase their research skills in the Commerce category.

Art of Positive Thinking" by CA Rushabh Kapasi

Mr. Kapasi commenced the session by emphasizing the significance of reducing negative thinking while fostering a positive mindset. The session provided insights into practical methods to cultivate positivity over a prolonged period of time.

Effective Ways to Make a Black Book

Webinar - Effective Ways to Make a Black Book," hosted by the diligent students of the Research Cell at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. This webinar was conducted with the goal of addressing the growing demand for report-writing skills in academia and the professional realm. The Speaker Dr. Rajesh Bhoite provided the participants with the best black book guidance. He equipped the participants with practical strategies and insights necessary to navigate the complexities of information synthesis and presentation, empowering them to create Black Books that stand out and effectively convey their research findings. In conclusion, the webinar on "Effective Ways to Make a Black Book" organized by the Research Cell at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics has proven to be a valuable resource for participants seeking to enhance their report-writing proficiency. Through engaging discussions and practical insights shared by our speakers, attendees have gained a deeper understanding of the elements involved in crafting compelling Black Books.

Research Cell’s NGO Activity for Kids Education

The research cell of HR college collaborated with Robinhood Army for an NGO activity for Kids education at Free Press Journal Marg, Nariman Point, Mumbai. This activity was done with 40 kids. Where the volunteers of the Research cell taught them drawing, math and geography. Then they conducted a fun session of dancing. At the end the volunteers distributed food to the kids and provided stationary to the needful kids.

MYSTICAL DIMENSIONS OF PERSEVERANCE

September 10, 2022         Attendees: 125

The Research Cell organized an interview session on topic ‘The Mystical Dimensions of Perseverance’ with guest speaker CA. Meet Shah (AIR 1 in CA Final May 2022).

Mr. Shah shared his experiences and answered every question regarding his preparation for the final exams. Some important takeaways of the session were:

  • Take time and care in drafting a resume
  • Perseverance and hard work go a long way.
  • Consistency is key for specialization.
  • Acceptance is the first step towards improvement.
  • Read one thing several times rather than multiple things only once.
  • Huge firms usually offer very specialized roles but at the starting of your career a wise decision would be to get experiences of as many departments as possible.
  • Sacrifices pays off.
  • Adapt to the environment and persevere.

Many useful insights along with tips and tricks for CA exams preparation were shared by him. Session concluded with a formal vote of thanks.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

January 7, 2023

A National Conference held exclusively for students was organised by K.C. Law College in collaboration with SMT. Kamalaben Gambhirchand Shah Law College.

Students from different disciplines were invited to this conference to demonstrate their research abilities and aimed at raising awareness regarding child abuse and human rights. The session lasted for about 4 hours beginning with opening ceremony and followed by presentations in front of a panel.

Nishtha Singhal and Pankti Chhadva, members of the research cell, delivered their paper, ‘Human Rights and Crime: Global Concern’, at the National Conference. The panellists concluded by offering critiques and recommendations for improvement.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL RESEARCH PAPER CONFERENCE

October 13, 2022         Attendees: 90+ Research Papers

Research Cell participated in an International Level Research Paper Conference organized by KES Shroff College (Mumbai) in Association with Taylor’s University, (Malaysia) and secured the Second Podium in the online track of the Multidisciplinary Research Conference.

The research was by Kinshuk Singhal of S.Y.B.Com. and Nishtha Singhal of T.Y.B.Com. on the topic “Who wins the Tug of War between Theatre and OTT”. There were more than 90+ research papers from Indian and Malaysian students across different colleges. The participants had an enriching experience and learnt a lot.

AAVISHKAR

January 11-15, 2023

Research Cell’s (RC) members participated in Aavishkar, the State Level Inter-University Research Competition. This competition aims to foster a research culture among the students and further motivate them to turn their concepts into tangible reality.

RC members selected for Aavishkar, were hosted in Pune at Savitribai Phule Pune University. The team had prepared poster for paper presentation and power point presentation for podium presentation. The competition comprised of several events, beginning with the opening ceremony and continuing with the poster/model presentation, podium presentation, and award ceremony.

NATIONAL LEVEL RESEARCH PAPER WRITING COMPETITION

Ms. Aditi Walia from Research Cell of H.R. College secured second podium in the 8th edition of Dr Gopi Gursahani National Level Research Paper writing competition organised by Nari Gursahani Law College.

Research Cell President Abhishek Gupta and Director Pooja Pagaria provided guidance for the research paper writing. The Research Paper on ‘ChatGPT: A wake-up call for change in curriculum, examination and assessment?’ would be published online on LinkedIn. A cash prize was also awarded to the winners.

The Research Cell organized an inter and intra collegiate fest called Inquisitive Feud. It was inspired by the Family Feud with Steve Harvey. It was a captivating, engaging and riveting experience for the participants. The Organizing Committee had collected primary data for the purpose to maintain authenticity and reliability of data. The event helped the participants understand how research data is processed. The winners were facilitated by Principal and Teachers in charge of the Research Cell.

ACTIVITIES 2021-2022

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICIES IN POST-INDEPENDENCE INDIA

October 14, 2021         Attendees: 35

The Research Cell of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics held a public engagement webinar. The objective of the webinar was to permeate the significance of Educational Reforms, the process by explaining what has changed, and what should be changed.

Dr. Vibhuti Patel opened the webinar by providing an overview of the National Educational Policy, 1968 continued with the hardship faced in implementing this policy in post-independent India. She explained the various social, economic & political challenges faced by India and the need for education back then. She also put forward some statistical comparisons to show how the literacy rate in India has increased with up to 98% general education enrolment.

Preliminary Focal Area:

  1. NEP 1968- A thorough discussion on free and compulsory education, free and thorough education, equalization of educational policy, etc.
  2. NEP 1986 revised in 1992- The vision & mission of this reform was discussed thoroughly by mentioning its key areas like Early Childhood Care, plans on setting up Autonomous Colleges, exploitation of rural talent, and materialization of Gandhian ideology as well as focus on various scholarship programs.
  3. NEP 2020- This mainly envisions an India-centric education system that contributes directly to transforming our nation sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing high-quality education to all. It also focused on the new way of learning portals such as E-pathshala on Umang, Swayam.
  4. Knowledge-Economy - Dr. Patel discussed how the knowledge economy is a system of consumption and production that is based on intellectual capital. In addition, it refers to the ability to capitalize on scientific discoveries and basic and applied research. This has come to represent a large component of all economic activity in most developed countries.
  5. Contemporary challenges- After a thorough discussion of all the educational reforms and their significance, Dr. Patel also put forward some questions that must be answered before forming a new education policy.
SECRET MANTRA OF SELF-BELIEF

February 27, 2022         Attendees: 30

The Research Cell organized a webinar on ‘Self-Belief’. Mr. Rushabh Kapasi is almost 100% vision impairment but he still managed to clear all papers and become a CA. He has featured in many prominent papers like TOI and DNA.

At the beginning of the webinar, the speaker mentioned how he was affected and mentioned various scenarios where he faced difficulties in life. Proceeding ahead, the speaker elaborated about Self- Beliefs and motivated students. A little light was also thrown upon the importance of changing perception in life.

Furthermore, the speaker gave three tips for students, which included Dream Big, do not be self-centered, and facing fear. This was followed by a brief explanation of “FEAR” which is to ‘Face Everything And Rise’ or ‘Forget Everything And Rise’. The participants also have to know about the importance of positivity in one's life.

The speaker then initiated the public to read more biographies, autobiographies, and self-help books of people who went through much in life but came up stronger. The speaker also shared his beautifully written poem with the audience, which was appreciated by them. The workshop then came to an end, wherein the speaker made participants do an activity in which they closed their eyes and were made to imagine and feel the existence of nature and environment and thank God for what they have got.

INQUEST- NATURAL AND PASSIONAL

March 1, 3 & 5, 2022         No. of Participants - 15

The Research Cell of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics organised a National level Research Event “INQUEST” via zoom. INQUEST 2022 consisted of three rounds consisting of a quiz, a report, and a presentation that tested the participant's research abilities, as well as presentation skills. Participants were from different colleges in India and the event was open to individuals as well.
