Admission Process at HR
"We have been receiving
such good feedback about the admission process. Some parents
were shocked not to see a line. It is thanks to the students
that the teachers could continue with their teaching,"
said Mrs. Rekha Bahadur, Vice-Principal, HR College.
"There were no queues at all because
of the pace at which the admissions went. We had an overwhelming
number of applicants this year probably because quite a
few of the high scorers who might have taken science in
the earlier years, had opted for commerce instead. The Students'
Council and all other students & associates worked together
to make admissions a dream," Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Indu
Shahani added.
Students Assist in College Admissions
The FYJC admissions for the academic year
2007-2008 began on June 25, 2007, the day the SSC results
were declared. There was an overwhelming response and 5000
forms were sold over the next four days. This year, however,
the response was an unprecedented one; the rush for commerce
was startling and was clearly 6-7% more than the previous
years.
Collection of forms began the very next
day and continued for four days as per the offilcial rules.
Duty began at 7:30 am for the 70 odd student volunteers.
This year volunteers were not limited to only Students'
Council members but Cascade, Code, Young Minds, the Rotatract
Club among others, extended a helping hand as well. In addition
to regular counters, five additional counters for sale,
collection and scrutiny of forms were set up manned by the
student volunteers.
Despite the fury of the Mumbai rains the
1st merit list was put up on the evening of July 2. HR College
was one of the few colleges that put up the first merit
list as per the announced schedule.
One of the innovative practices followed
by the college since last year has been to send out bulk
SMSs to the students whose names appeared on the First Merit
List. This practice has been getting wide appreciation from
parents and students alike.
The admission procedure for the students
was held on July 3 & 4. The 5th floor was assigned for
ICSE and CBSE students, 3rd floor for the SSC students while
the 4th floor was for the reserved category.
Data entry was simultaneously carried out
in the computer labs. This process was smooth and uninterrupted.
A herculean task due to the sheer volume of students that
had applied was administered with absolute surgical precision.
The Students' Council followed the McDonald's
principle of not more than 5 minutes in a que and the college
admissions witnessed no ques.
On July 14, the FYJC Orientation was conducted for the freshers
and their parents. The Students' Council received a standing
ovation from all present for making the admission process
such an enjoyable process.
Parents appreciate ....
".... the manner of hospitality was
like personal guests being entertained at home. Parents
were at ease and their comfort was taken care. Their problems
were solved then and there. The rooms were having audio-visual
programmes, showing various activities of college.
I have never seen such a foolproof disciplined
system with humanitarian touch in any of the educational
institutions. I find H.R College having all the qualities
of ISO-9002.
I congratulate you for being principal of such a star culture
college...."

"...I appreciate all the arrangements (right from putting
up the merit list till the final payment of fees),which
was extremely well managed by all college volunteers along
with your office staff, that at no point of time we had
to face any harassment or inconvenience.
I think the efficiency, hard work and polite approach is
the result of your institution's sincere efforts to promote
personality development of students and all round progress
to inculcate national character and discipline...."

"... The experience with your College was really excellent.
I wish other colleges of Mumbai also learn the art of handling
admissions from your college which was done in a professional
manner & not in the old ancient way of Government department
kind of manner.
One more thing which impressed me was, getting
an SMS from your college when my daughter got selected on
the First Merit List of the college. This was very high-tech
& the right use of new technological tools available
in India. This was a sign of a techno-savvy , progressive
& modern - 21st century college..."

"...The atmosphere at HR was orderly, & your student
volunteers were courteous and polite. At no time did we
feel we were rudely treated; everyone was sympathetic &
understanding, but firm, & explained matters to us patiently.
We congratulate you, your staff, including
your office staff & your students for creating such
a reassuring atmosphere under such trying circumstances.
We are really pleased that our daughter is going to study
here & look forward to her progress with great expectations..."
